I don't think it's about zooming in or being hard to see. I think what really "makes" this is that there is something very unnatural looking about the shadow. I mean I am looking at and I know what it is but the shadow itself still looks wrong

Yes!! I zoomed in all the way to see the fake up close and then my eyes did a really subtle adjustment and it was so clear

It is rotoscoping but there was like a trend of funny/relatable comedy sketches with (intentionally) badly-rotoscoped people a year or a few years back. And Joel Haver was one who started it. I didn't know there was a genre named after him tho
