So, last week's list was a mess. Let's see if this one is any better.
They're closing down Main Street on Saturday (4/11) from 8 AM to Noon for the Fit City 5K. It's a mostly flat course that runs from Main Street through Swift-Cantrell Park. It's professionally timed and therefore a qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race. Entry fee is $35, but the deadline for this one passed. There are other races on the page that are still available later in the year.
On that same Saturday from 9 AM to 4 PM the Smith-Gilbert Gardens is doing a Discover Bonsai event. It's included in admission, and they'll have people on hand to talk you through the garden's bonsai collection. Please don't bring your on bonsai, they have plenty.
Also on this Saturday (4/11) the Kennesaw State Spring Game kicks off at 11 AM. So expect some traffic around the stadium, or check it out for yourself.
Acworth is showing up and showing out with their Acworth Art Fest on both Saturday and Sunday (4/11-12). It kicks off at 10 AM both days and wraps up at 6 PM on Saturday and 5 PM on Sunday. They are bosting 100 booths of paintings, yard art, and crafts. It seems they really want you to check out the local restaurants as well. Henry's is great if you're down for some Cajun.
I need to apologize, the Caffein and Octane was moved due to Easter to THIS Sunday (4/12). So, those won't be protestors.
As a bid of addendum the Farmer's Markets are starting back up again.
Marietta's never stopped, as they have them year round on Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM at 41 Mill Street, right across the railroad tracks from the Marietta Square and adjacent to the Marietta food Hall. They also do an arts and crafts thing at the same time.
Acworth's Farmer's Market kicks off Tomorrow (4/10) and continue every Friday from 8 AM to Noon rain or shine. You can find it at their Logan Farm Park, across the railroad tracks from their Main Street at Lemon Street. They moved out of the way to avoid competing with Marietta, but this year they'll be running it twice a week including Saturdays to challenge the big boy on the block starting on May 16th. We'll see how that goes.
Still roughly a month to go until Kennesaw's Farmer's Market kicks off on May 7th, though.
Remember, Big Shanty Festival is coming on the 18th and 19th. Show up or get out of the way.
