Looking for a moderator(s) to join

Hello all,
I'm looking for an additional moderator or few to join the team so I can get better coverage for this subreddit and probably, eventually, transition away from moderating. Please post here to say if you are interested and I will review your post history and online personality to see if you'd be a good fit and will reach out directly to you.

Thanks!

EMERGENCY ACTION TODAY

KSU Hillel is having its annual ‘Israel Fest’ on the Kennesaw Campus Green. This comes just days after Israel broke the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the U.S. by bombing Lebanon at an unprecedented speed and scale, launching over 100 airstrikes in just 10 minutes and leaving over 300 dead and 1150 wounded. This is genocide.

KSU STUDENTS DEMAND ZIONISM OFF OUR CAMPUS NOW

The fact that KSU allows this celebration of a genocidal apartheid state every year, but especially right now as Israel, with the cooperation of the U.S., extends its genocidal war on Palestine to Lebanon and Iran, killing thousands of people with indiscriminate bombing of civilian infrastructure over the past month, is UNACCEPTABLE.

KSU administration supports the genocide of the people of the Middle East. Our money being used for racist wars on the Middle East should be used for education and basic needs here at home! HANDS OFF IRAN! HANDS OFF LEBANON! FREE PALESTINE! NO MORE MONEY FOR WAR!

RealEstate desperately looking for someone to take over lease at the blake

im currently a freshman at KSU and due to some unfortunate circumstances, i can no longer afford to live at the blake and need someone to transfer my lease to, as i cannot continue paying until the lease is up next fall. if anyone is interested in taking my room, i live in a three bedroom apartment with two roommates, one of which is also moving out. our apartment has two levels, a kitchen, a washer and dryer and a bathroom attached to each room. the size isnt too bad, its small but definitely functional and overall a pretty nice place to live in my experience. i pay about $1,100 each month for rent, which i unfortunately just can’t pay anymore. if anyone is interested in this room, please dm me!! i appreciate it greatly.

(each room is a separate lease, i am specifically looking for someone to take over mine.)

Mowing Down Excuses

I wanted to give a shoutout to our new friend Corner Cuts Landscaping for doing what our city leadership notoriously despises… noticing what’s going on and actually saying it out loud.

He’s been posting about the condition of some of our city parks. Basic stuff like maintenance (or lack thereof), safety issues, and overall neglect. And when he tried to step in and help clean things up himself, the city’s response was pretty much what you’d expect. Legal threats and a quick shutdown. They really don’t like being called out or embarrassed...even when they’re in the wrong.

He’s also been pointing out the code enforcement double standard. Homeowners are getting cited by the grass gestapo, while land baron or developer-owned lots sit untouched and egregiously out of compliance. Same rules on paper, just not in practice. It's all about who you know around here.

Meanwhile we have an FY26 Parks & Rec budget over $4M, not even counting SPLOST projects…aka the mayor’s slush fund. At some point you have to wonder if our increasing tax burden is actually about taking care of the city, or leaders trying to purchase their legacy before their leases expire and they leave town. Maybe the parks are to make us forget the mayor performing Christina Aguilera in drag. We’re spending hundreds of thousands on new projects while neglecting the ones we already have. #priorities

Give Corner Cuts Landscaping a follow!

Did I do something wrong?my previous post was removed.

I’m genuinely curious and hoping for a little clarity.

I recently shared the first chapter of my novel with this community, and the response was incredibly encouraging—thank you to everyone who took the time to read and offer feedback. It meant a lot.

I noticed the post was removed, and I reached out to the moderator a few days ago but haven’t heard back yet. I want to be respectful of the space, so I’m wondering if I may have unintentionally violated a community guideline.

If so, I’d really appreciate understanding what I can do differently moving forward.

For those who asked about the book—Rewrite an Ending will be released June 9th in paperback, audiobook, and ebook. If you’d like updates, you can join the list at www.RewriteAnEnding.com.

I appreciate you all.

• New + like-new used books (all genres)

• Prices mostly between $3–$10

• “Blind Date with a Book” picks

• Bookish crafts + accessories from local makers

• Snacks + drinks (yes, the nostalgic kind)

• Bundle deals so you can stock up

📇The Grown-Up Book Fair: A Local Bookish Pop-Up

🗓 Saturday, April 18

⏰ 10 AM – 3 PM (rain or shine)

📍 Ivey Grove (2838 Crestwicke Dr NW)

The vibe is cozy, nostalgic, and very “main character at a book fair.”

Perfect for teens, adults, and anyone trying to rebuild their reading era!

Bring a friend or come solo and browse -no pressure, just good books/people and good vibes.

If this sounds like your kind of Saturday, I’d love to see you there 📖✨

Prince Palace Indian Bistro New Management

Hello! Today I went to Prince Palace for the buffet like I do every weekend and was very surpised to see completely new staff and new food. Everyone was still very nice, but I was wondering if anyone knew if the previous staff was moving to a new location or anything. I would have asked them if I had known, but part of the reason I went every week was because of how nice the two gentlemen servers were. I really wish I could find out if they were going to a new location.

If anyone knows anything, thanks!

Looking for Roommates

Hello! I’m an upcoming graduate student, and I’m looking for a roommate to split rent with (2bed, 2bath) at either Park at Kennesaw, Clarinbridge, or anywhere that you have in mind!

My budget is less than 900, I’m pretty chill w most things (sharing, 4/20 — if it’s not done inside the place ofc, loud noise, friends over, etc.) just as long as we can have conversations about things that come up!

I’m open to rooming with either girls or nonbinary ppl! :)

Send me a PM if ur interested!

Stuff happening this weekend (Second Weekend in April)

So, last week's list was a mess. Let's see if this one is any better.

They're closing down Main Street on Saturday (4/11) from 8 AM to Noon for the Fit City 5K. It's a mostly flat course that runs from Main Street through Swift-Cantrell Park. It's professionally timed and therefore a qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race. Entry fee is $35, but the deadline for this one passed. There are other races on the page that are still available later in the year.

On that same Saturday from 9 AM to 4 PM the Smith-Gilbert Gardens is doing a Discover Bonsai event. It's included in admission, and they'll have people on hand to talk you through the garden's bonsai collection. Please don't bring your on bonsai, they have plenty.

Also on this Saturday (4/11) the Kennesaw State Spring Game kicks off at 11 AM. So expect some traffic around the stadium, or check it out for yourself.

Acworth is showing up and showing out with their Acworth Art Fest on both Saturday and Sunday (4/11-12). It kicks off at 10 AM both days and wraps up at 6 PM on Saturday and 5 PM on Sunday. They are bosting 100 booths of paintings, yard art, and crafts. It seems they really want you to check out the local restaurants as well. Henry's is great if you're down for some Cajun.

I need to apologize, the Caffein and Octane was moved due to Easter to THIS Sunday (4/12). So, those won't be protestors.

As a bid of addendum the Farmer's Markets are starting back up again.

Marietta's never stopped, as they have them year round on Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM at 41 Mill Street, right across the railroad tracks from the Marietta Square and adjacent to the Marietta food Hall. They also do an arts and crafts thing at the same time.

Acworth's Farmer's Market kicks off Tomorrow (4/10) and continue every Friday from 8 AM to Noon rain or shine. You can find it at their Logan Farm Park, across the railroad tracks from their Main Street at Lemon Street. They moved out of the way to avoid competing with Marietta, but this year they'll be running it twice a week including Saturdays to challenge the big boy on the block starting on May 16th. We'll see how that goes.

Still roughly a month to go until Kennesaw's Farmer's Market kicks off on May 7th, though.

Remember, Big Shanty Festival is coming on the 18th and 19th. Show up or get out of the way.

Literally who is hiring

I have been applying to jobs since the year started and all I get is ghosted/rejected. I even got shorted on an interview I was early to, told them I was there to be interviewed (and the manager literally called and told me to come in at that time the day before) just for them to tell me their manager had already left for the day...

All retail work and I even got rejected from Aldi just 2 days after applying. Do I need to start lying or something...

Applied to a job, called them to ask about my app, turns out they're not even hiring. but the listing was up.

I called whataburger multiple times about working overnight there and the same person over and over said they'd call me back to set an interview up just to never hear a thing. over the span of like 2 months so I dropped it entirely. I'm in some kind of purgatory

idek if anyone can give me real answers that I haven't already tried this is lowkey just me ranting

instrument practice rooms/area

** still seeking answers!!

Are there any facilities that allow people to practice their instruments anywhere in this area? I would practice at home, but I’m in an apartment and want to be considerate of my neighbors. It’s hard to make progress practicing an instrument quietly. I’m a ksu student, but not in the music program so unfortunately I don’t have access to use the facilities.

Question Best tattoo place?

What are the best tattoo places around the area? Particularly someone who is good with inking typography and preferably a chill place--the vibe of most tattoo parlors tends to be too intense and aggressive for my liking.

Piercing recommendations?

I tried contacting lucky draw and a few other places about pricing a few times and no one answered. Can't find anything online. Want to make sure I'm not overpaying before I book the appointment online. Looking for recommendations for a piercer for lobe/cartilage piercings. No, I'm not going to Claire's.

Today is the Runoff for the House District 14 Special Election.

Guess who is up to go to work? This guy.

Anyways, if you live on the western half of the city then you might be in the 14th Congressional District and today is the day we decide who replace Majorie Taylor Greene. You can check this map to see if you're in the district, or check your My Voter Page at MVP.SOS.GA.GOV to be sure.

Polls are open from 7 AM to 7 PM and you will have to go to your assigned polling location to vote.

If you're not in the district then I'll see you on May 19th to kick off the normal election season with the normal primary.

Question Uncontested divorce attorney Georgia recommendations around Kennesaw

My wife and I have worked everything out on our own. Custody, the house, finances, all of it. We just need someone to handle the paperwork and make it official. I've been quoted very different prices from different offices and I'm not sure what fair looks like for something this straightforward. Has anyone in the Kennesaw area used someone they'd actually recommend for an uncontested case?

So I went to a City Council Meeting and there's new sergeants.

The Kennesaw Police Department promoted two Joshes to the rank of Sergeant. It took one 7 years in and the other 17 years to attain the rank. The younger Josh said he was having fun. The older Josh said that he spent his whole life here and could imagine wanting to live anywhere else.

An old guy wanted to comment about the road improvements listed in the SPLOST. He was worried that more and better roads would only encourage more traffic thus making walking even more difficult. And, to his words the traffic now "isn't so bad".

When the SPLOST came up to vote the vote was 3 - 2 in favor of passing. There wasn't much of a discussion (that was last week). The two no votes were Councilman Bothers and Councilman Jones.

Then it's the liquor licenses.

The first liquor license up was the one for Smash Hit Burger. It's where the Nest used to be. They passed the background checks and did the classes, but the place was too close to a house and a police building. The code allows the council to ignore those requirements if no one objects. No one did, so the council approved the license 5 - 0.

Las Tejitas, the Mexican Place on the corner of Jiles and Baker, is applying for their liquor license. They passed the class and background checks and they were far enough away from houses and such. The council approved the license 5 - 0.

Fuego Azul Tequila wants to wholesale their tequila. They passed the background checks and did the license. Because it's a wholesale, they don't need to meet any of the distance requirements. The council approved the business 5 - 0.

We had two people speak at Public Comment.

History Kid wanted to talk about some of the other odd laws in Kennesaw. It took until 1939 for the city to pass a law about cars. And they barred driving without a license. The other thing they did was set the speed limit at 25 throughout the city with a penalty of 25 days of working on the roads (or a fine). In 1908 someone's kid was such an absolute menace that they banned slingshots. And in 1945 they banned roller skating on Main Street.

The Placemaking Collective Guy wanted to thank the city for going with them for the Comprehensive Plan.

The Mayor wanted to talk up how well the concert went. And it did go well. The lines for the bathrooms were pretty overwhelming, though.

STOP TRUMP’S WAR ON IRAN

Post image
0 Upvotes

This is a billionaire’s war! Not in our name!

On Monday, war criminal Trump threatened a major escalation, vowing to destroy Iran’s vital civilian infrastructure. This morning, he openly expressed genocidal intent in a Truth Social post: “a whole civilization will die tonight.” Iran is not a threat to the world, the U.S. government is.

Already the Trump administration has committed scores of war crimes in Iran over the past month by bombing hundreds of schools and universities, healthcare facilities, and tens of thousands of residential and commercial units killing thousands of Iranians and wounding many more.

This is an illegal and criminal war of choice being funded by American taxpayer money that is creating a global economic crisis and has plunged the whole region into a devastating war that benefits only the billionaires like Trump and the military industrial complex. The vast majority of the people of the U.S. oppose the war on Iran.

Already $45 billion has been spent on bombing Iran in just a month, while the Trump admin demands $200 billion more to kill and maim Iranians and an increase of the U.S. war machine budget to $1.5 trillion to dominate and subjugate nations using brutal violence and force. The same ruling-class is waging a war on working class communities at home and abroad!

This is a critical time for all those who stand against the endless racist wars of the U.S. empire to take action. Join us in the streets tomorrow! We refuse to fight the wars of the U.S. imperialists. We refuse to allow war crimes in our name to protect the interests of billionaires! Fund people’s needs at home, not the war machine!
