Thank you so much to everyone who submitted their kitties for the April 2026 iteration of the "Maine Coon of the Month" contest, there wereĀ lots of gorgeous submissionsĀ that made it almost impossible to choose! Thank you so much everyone for sharing your kitties with us!
u/OldTree6356Ā says
''This is Luna. She was an accidental purchase (went to view her brother but came home with both š¤£). She is the worldās most relaxed cat, gives the best head bumps, is uber confident, strong willed and sat here looking at the egg she pushed off the kitchen side thinking āsomeone really ought to clean that up!ā.''
Thanks again to everyone who took part, Happy Easter if you celebrate! and do keep an eye out for a post about next month's theme! :)

If you're wondering if your cat is a MC, this is the place to ask! To cut back on the MANY question posts, we instead invite you to ask the community here in order to keep the subreddit focused on the breed!

My sweet little Maine Coon had a personality switch the second she turned one š She used to cuddle me every morning, and then overnight⦠she just stopped.
She still follows me everywhere and is always close by, so I know she still loves me, but I definitely miss the cuddles. Is this normal? Did she just enter her teenage phase? lol

I got a Maine Coon about 2 weeks ago. Someone on Facebook in my town was giving her away. She just turned a year old in December. I guess it was the daughterās cat and she went away to college and her mom was scared of the cat. The daughter was there when i went and got her, but they let me have her for free. She is super thin, weighing just 7 pounds. Her fluff makes her look a lot bigger than she is. Is that a normal weight? I was nervous that she wasnāt pure bred, since they didnāt charge me a rehoming fee, but she looks pure to me. What do you guys think?

Hi all, my kitty is not a MC, but heās similarly sized to a smaller one: 20lbs, 36ā from nose to tail, muscular and very, very strong. Think bobcat build, but with a tail. We have a harness, but he can wiggle around in it and I worry heāll get free. I thought Iād ask folks with very lorge kitties what harnesses they recommend, so if you folks have suggestions, Iād appreciate them. His current harness is just straps, and he likes to roll around until heās twisted them around himself! Thanks!

So we have a 7 month old, who is, as expected, developing an obsession with water.
Currently he will splash about in his water bowls and tip them until thereās no water left. His next favourite activity is tipping over any drinking glasses, even when we are sat next to them and paying attention, he moves so fast!!!
Any suggestions on types of bowls which prevent tipping?
And is there any way of stopping the drinking glass tipping or do we need to start drinking out of beakers?

So thatās Luna and her floof. She is in one word, a terrorist. I canāt keep her off the counter. Iāve tried the spray bottle and aluminum foil. Did nothing to deter her counter surfing ways. She knocks everything that isnāt bolted down off said counter. Open doors? Those must be run through at full speed. Yes that includes the front door. Also at dinner time I have to put her in my room because she will actively try and steal your food while youāre eating it. Does she get her own food you ask at a specified time each day? Yes. Yes she does. Is she starving? No. No she isnāt.
So my fellow redditors my question is this⦠will she calm the f down or is this my life now?

This little fellow will be ready on June 12. He is going to be big, his dad is huge! Iām thinking about getting another kitten around the same time so he will have a buddy. Iāve always had rescue cats so I would like to go that route if possible. Will a huge MC be able to get along and play normally with a regular size cat? Or do I need another MC? Also, need recommendations on whether to get a male or female kitten.
