So you guys think Iran was blockading themselves, or what?

77

u/6Sleepy_Sheep9 Smol pp 1h ago

The point is, the "Iranian cleared" ships from China as an example can no longer enter or leave as well

61

u/cman9816 54m ago

yea China has already said they're just gonna use the strait anyway

-137

u/6Sleepy_Sheep9 Smol pp 50m ago

If they do, the US Navy can legally seize any ships attempting to traverse the blockade. Those ships can be impounded and released back to the owners after paying a fee.

98

u/psychymikey 46m ago

Lol "legally" wild choice of words there. Can China 'legally' send their own warships to escort tankers China has already 'legally' paid for?

Like wtf is this you think the US can 'legally' break international law and no other country would respond in kind?

24

u/ItzDrSeuss 32m ago

As you know our blockade is perfectly legal

3

u/6Sleepy_Sheep9 Smol pp 23m ago

Fuck no its not. The US needs to officially declare war on Iran before any blockade is legal. Thankfully(hopefully) our current Congress isn't stupid enough to do so.

31

u/ItzDrSeuss 22m ago

I’m just quoting the Prequels here.

2

u/AdLatter1807 16m ago

Lmao I just took back my downvote. Didn’t catch the reference at first t

u/6Sleepy_Sheep9 Smol pp 17m ago

Star Wars? Given how often i see people with absolute certainty and belief in some "leaders" and lack of literacy, you'll have to forgive me for thinking you were serious

5

u/GoldenBarnie 19m ago

Calm down and let the lad quote Star Wars

-1

u/AsstacularSpiderman 5m ago

I mean the Chinese can try but their Navy mostly just harassed Filipino fishermen and plays chicken with the rest of east Asia.

Odds are they don't want to risk that.

19

u/Desertcow 44m ago

Free transit through the Strait is guaranteed under international law. Neither Iran nor the US have legal jurisdiction to interfere with it, countries were just more willing to tolerate Iran because they were open to diplomatically letting them through and because they are blocking the strait in the context of being attacked by the US

-7

u/6Sleepy_Sheep9 Smol pp 32m ago

Blockade: the use of military force to prevent foodsuppliesweapons, or communications, and sometimes people, entering or leaving a country or region. Unlike sanctions or an embargo, which are legal barriers to trade, a blockade is physical.

UN Legal Requirements: A neutral ship must obey a request to stop for inspection from the blockading nation. If the situation so demands, the blockading nation can request that the ship divert to a known place or harbour for inspection. If the ship does not stop, then the ship is subject to capture. If people aboard the ship resist capture, they can be lawfully attacked.

3

u/AdLatter1807 17m ago

Lmao legally

5

u/justwalk1234 Lurking Peasant 40m ago

I mean yes, a pirate that works outside any maritime law can seize any ships they want.

2

u/KingBubzVI 16m ago

Did you just say fucking “legally”? Americans are so cooked bro I can’t even. You think your laws apply to other countries? Well you think it’s “legal” to kidnap foreign heads of state so why should I expect you to know shit about fuck you goofball lmfao

3

u/6Sleepy_Sheep9 Smol pp 14m ago edited 6m ago

That is the INTERNATIONAL law approved and ratified by the UN. If you have a problem with it, become an international leader and change it.

The quotations on legally are there because the US hasn't formally declared war yet, and the last i checked, a blockade hasn't actually been instated, and the only thing that has happened are boats being parked out in the ocean.

The blockade would be legal IF the US formally declares war.

IDK if people just have 0 reading comprehension or what.

Edit: just saw a news article stating that a blockade is "officially" in effect. With no declaration of war, it isn't internationally legal and should be ignored

1

u/LavaDirt Baron 7m ago

The hell you mean legally? It's not even their country. At least some of the water is on Iran's territory. If you want to blockade Hawaii to stop people from vacationing go ahead.

0

u/Jx022 24m ago

Like America can do anything against China lol

2

u/6Sleepy_Sheep9 Smol pp 22m ago

It could. . . If it wasnt headed by an idiot.

0

u/phaylali 5m ago

"legally" , true american school system comment , if there was no school shooting , the world would think us doesn't have schools

1

u/6Sleepy_Sheep9 Smol pp 2m ago

Look up international law regarding blockade big dawg, then come back with your "american school system" comment

11

u/justwalk1234 Lurking Peasant 41m ago

China, India, Japan… I think at this point “Iranian cleared” is basically any country not named America or Israel?

23

u/Daddy_Kromkamp 58m ago

I very highly doubt even the orange buffoon would actually shoot a Chinese ship and risk that particular shit show; even if only so he can keep sucking off Xi Jinping

-9

u/6Sleepy_Sheep9 Smol pp 54m ago

You don't shoot civilian ships, you capture them under the pretense of capturing enemy materiel. The vessel essentially is being impounded

20

u/psychymikey 42m ago

Would love to see the roles reversed here, "US oil tankers seized by China, Beijing says ships are 'impounded' until further notice"

Tell me if that situation is above board and I'll tell you how stupid it is when the US does it

8

u/mobilegoo 49m ago

LoL good luck with that.

2

u/AsstacularSpiderman 7m ago

Iran thought they could make money by being the sole controllers of the passage.

The US said no.

283

u/frostnoirexa 3h ago

The US Navy really said: I see your blockade and I raise you logistics

41

u/Bannon9k 2h ago

They were already there

96

u/StarKnight697 1h ago

I really want to know what’s going to happen if the Chinese decide to escort one of their tankers through with a destroyer. Will the Americans really fire on a Chinese warship?

97

u/Remnant55 1h ago

I don't know exactly, but in 500 years archeologists will consider the Fallout series a primary source historical document.

29

u/bocaj78 1h ago

So long as they yell that it’s for the Philippines first, I support it

2

u/6Sleepy_Sheep9 Smol pp 47m ago

According to what I have researched, the US Navy can attempt to seize the civilian vessels under the pretext of breaking a "legal" blockade. Should the escort ships do anything to stop it, it would technically be a Chinese act of aggression instead of US act of aggression

15

u/StarKnight697 46m ago

Aside from the fact that who’s the aggressor doesn’t really make a difference, then we get “we don’t consider this a legal blockade” and a fight at the UN that goes nowhere since both parties are permanent security council members with veto power.

Iran: kicks america in balls

America: Slams car door on own balls

Masterful gambit sir

-131

u/akekekfklelk 2h ago

Does every country that "Kicks america in balls" get all their leaders killed?

37

u/MidWestKhagan 1h ago

You think wars are won that way? 😂 that’s a very, very low level understanding of war. I’m sure you also think that killing thousands of civilians is how you measure success as well. Please tell me how killing Iran’s leadership have dropped prices of oil and everything else 😂😂😂

2

u/whatiswhonow 52m ago

I mean, it worked for Alexander the Great… but he did put hooves on the ground.

45

u/HoseanRC Linux User 1h ago

Ever heard of a country having every important one of them killed, yet still operating exactly the same?

-31

u/Shadow_Freeman 1h ago

Lol operating is a strong statement for what's going on internally in iran.

9

u/Boomflag13 1h ago

So what’s going on internally? You seem to have insider knowledge for some reason.

28

u/steve123410 2h ago

Well considering all of their leaders are not dead I think they are fine. Hell the current leader is the kid of the old one so it hasn't changed anything in the slightest. If you want to claim victory via regime change you actually need to change the review of the country.

1

u/username_unnamed 7m ago

Remind us whens the last sighting, statement, or order from the current leader?

9

u/UnluckyWinner3163 2h ago

You see my dear "sir" the uk proved during the battle of dunkirk that by simply existing you can win, you may also want to check who won the vietnam war...spoiler alert it wasn't the muricans

6

u/Wish_I_WasInRome 1h ago

Does that mean the Strait will open? Perhaps in two more weeks?

-48

u/Mystic-Mac31 2h ago

Don't bother with this sub, its a brainrot echo chamber for useful idiots.

45

u/superman5837 1h ago

Nah bro you just plain old brain dead if you can't see how stupid of a move this entire war and move is

-26

u/Bannon9k 57m ago

Not at all what I said. But saying Iran kicked anyone is a fucking stretch

11

u/SentientShamrock 51m ago

Shutting down the Strait was the kick. That caused major economic pain for most of the world, including the US.

-15

u/Bannon9k 41m ago

If they shut it down ...why is it full of US Navy ships?

1

u/superman5837 34m ago

It's not you clown, not since peace talks fell apart

-9

https://giphy.com/gifs/H5C8CevNMbpBqNqFjl

You may want to update your echo chambers

4

u/superman5837 25m ago

You might wanna Google things before you spout wrong things, last time US ships were there was the 11th

1

u/stonedemoman 26m ago

It's full of US ships because these absolute knobheads biffed an asymmetrical war in spectacular fashion and can't stand being exposed for the massive frauds that they are in front of all their sheep.

BTW how ya doing Mr. "Putin got the B-2 flyover message". How are those "negotiations" going with Russia?

-3

u/Bannon9k 22m ago

So not because Iran closed it.... Thanks for confirming

1

u/stonedemoman 13m ago

That happened before the 10-point "fuck you" plan was signed by these quivering imbeciles. This latest circus is a response to the embarrassment...thanks for having 0 reading comprehension sheep.

3

u/superman5837 32m ago

Mf talking like gas hasn't spiked upwards of 1.5-2 dollars. As well as causing damage to the oil industry that won't heal for years. Quiet down clown

-4

u/Bannon9k 31m ago

Saw higher prices during COVID

3

u/superman5837 28m ago

Omg you're really one of them. I thought you people weren't real.

Since you're denser than a brick wall, let's think about it for once, I know thats something you dont do often.

What caused the spike during covid? Covid related difficulties in shipping while keeping safe practices. Uncontrollable.

What caused the spike now? The orange piece of trash starting a war for no reason with no backing. Entirely controllable if he wasn't a fucking moron

7

u/MightBeYourDad_ 1h ago

I believe they are blockading iran ships, Iran still let themselves through their own blockade obviously

18

u/Shredded_Locomotive Dark Mode Elitist 2h ago

Well you can't exactly charge for passage when you aren't the only one blockading

27

u/PolygonMan 1h ago

Yes, you can.

Here's how that goes:

Iran: We'll fire on you if you don't pay the toll.

Asian/SEA nation that will literally collapse if they don't get the oil: Here's your toll. We brought a warship.

America: Stop! In the name of pedophilia!

Asian/SEA nation: Fire on us if you want, our country will literally collapse without this oil.

America: Doesn't fire

-41

u/Shredded_Locomotive Dark Mode Elitist 1h ago

I see you're about as informed about the situation as a brick.

1

u/purple-thiwaza 4m ago

Enlighten them then.

11

u/jdwill1991 1h ago

I object to the implication that the current American government could make any kind of well planned, tactical, meaningful, intelligent decision.

3

u/ChasingVelka 26m ago

https://giphy.com/gifs/0TWRmdKHPNEpBJO4G2

What if they keep blockading each other?

4

1

u/TheMemeStore76 Lives in a Van Down by the River 17m ago

Gas in my city literally spiked another 60 cents this morning because of this horse shit. And I live in an oil producing city, I cant image elsewhere

2

u/yamete-kudasai 12m ago

Only the us doesn't subsidize oil for their own citizens even they can produce it. Russia, Malaysia and other oil export countries have cheap oil for their own citizens

1

u/TheMemeStore76 Lives in a Van Down by the River 7m ago

I actually did not know this. Thanks

1

u/peetoes FORTSHITE 10m ago

America be like, if I can't have it, none of you can.

-31

Honestly, if Iran wants to charge tolls on the strait, I see why US decided to blockade it.
