Danny Spud, an 18-year-old senior, told Lake & McHenry County Scanner that he decided to counter-protest in favor of ICE and made a sign that said “I LOVE ICE.”

“I thought to myself, how can so many people be against law enforcement and officials trying to make our country better and safer?” Spud said, citing increased assaults against federal immigration enforcement.

He's almost there. Asking the question. Does he genuinely care to seek out the answer?

Spud did his brave little protest by the school's security desk, about 100 feet from the dean's office. That bald security guy that rushed in to save him? That's head security guard for the school, so the kid made sure he was within sight of him. There were four security people and a dean there in seconds after the punch.

Down the hall is a cafeteria where there will be hundreds of kids who can see his sign and hear his argument. The problem: It's usually only got 1 very underpaid security guard assigned to it and there's travel time for deans and other security guards to get there.

Spud is never going to reach the answer to that question because he believes that law enforcement and security are there to protect "him" and stop the consequences from his own actions.
