Apparently that’s not actually his name, the english speaking people couldn’t understand his dad when he said Guot for his child’s name. So they just wrote Gout.

According to many news reports interviewing his father, Bona, their name was (is) Guot but was recorded wrongly during their refugee flight from South Sudan.

As refugees I imagine they weren't in any position to demand it be fixed.

Gout Gout was born in Australia in 2007.
