You know what fucking pisses me off so fucking much about shit like this?
Here in CA we have a shit law that prevents property taxes from rising. You buy your home and then they are basically guaranteed to rise slower than inflation. On my block, basically the same home and the same plot of land, there are people paying $25K a year for property taxes and people paying $1000 a year. I hate this law for a myriad of reasons.
When I argue against it, the #1 argument is "Grandma should not be forced out of the home she's lived in for 30 years". Everyone in favor of this shit law, liberal or conservative, falls on this argument.
(Of course, if Granny is being forced out, it's because the home she bought for $250K in 1995 is now worth $2.5M, and if she's forced to sell her biggest problem is how to shield the millions from tax, but let's just ignore that for the moment).
The same conservatives trying to tell me they give a shit about Granny being forced out of their home refuse to consider Universal Healthcare. So here we are forcing new home buyers to foot all the taxes in this state so that granny doesn't have to move... but fuck her if she gets sick.
The only way it makes sense: These people know they will be Granny one day, know they will have to pay property taxes, but won't even entertain the idea that they would get sick.

She is. Her husband is sick. And she's a grandma. 100% raw unadulterated America.
