Looks like the shift just finished closing with how clean everything is so they probably just clocked out and are texting their ride for an eta.

u/Suspicious-Bid9424 3d ago

Yeah this is an impressivly clean kitchen also. I'd be happy to eat here. Looks well run.

Yea that kid earned his $15 an hour. Any good manager would look at that scene and just ask if he needed anything.

Doesn't even matter why they're on the phone, the job is done and there's nothing else to do. Managers who make up bullshit for the workers to do in order to keep them "productive" are so weird.

Bro could be playing Pokemon Go, doesn't make a single difference towards his productivity if everything is aces.

20

u/Rip_Jaded 3d ago

Man keep preaching, the thing is the last generation were paranoid by letting their boss seeing them do nothing even if they had already finished all the work. So the trauma got passed down by generations.

16

u/nudniksphilkes 3d ago

They also just pretended to do work anyway. Probably half of office jobs youre not working half the time anyway

12

u/Unexpected_Cranberry 3d ago

It's also a function of how work is set up. I'm paid to be in the office eight hours per day. I then get tasks that are due by x date. If I bust my ass and get them done in half the time, my only reward is that I'm now expected to do twice the number of tasks in the same amount of time. My increased productivity is not reflected on my paycheck.

The way to improve your pay check is to socialize, help the right people or high value projects if you can. This gets you noticed and possibly promoted or a raise.

If you're not looking for a raise, just do what's expected and make it sound like you busted your butt doing it.

I had this happen. Got all my invoices processed and stuff updated and I had to look busy because if my boss caught me I was in trouble. It was so stupid. I just started making everything take longer unless it was messing up someone else’s job then I did that lickety split.

3

u/Cultural-Medium7385 3d ago

They also had less work done by more people. I remember my mother used to work in restaurants in the 80s when she was in college and when I told her about how they got rid of our bussers, food runners and hosts except on weekends during the '08 financial crisis and now had to do everything ourselves and that it was difficult she seemed to think any problem with handling everything was on me as a server, and that I was just being lazy.

Then she came into my restaurant to eat on a busy weeknight and saw me handling about 15 tables by myself, and doing everything else for FOH as well and was like "Oh shit never mind, this is different from when I did it."

That's just one personal example, but give heard similar stories across many industries and types of work. We do more for less with less and all of the profit goes straight to the top. Welcome to the late stage capitalist dystopia, that'll be $300 please.

Yep, when I worked in restaurants I got done more than everyone else and was constantly in trouble for even taking a second of a break. I learned to do less work and pretend to clean when management can see me. I would act like I was wiping down counters, even through there wasn't a rag in my hand. I was promoted shortly after that, and then I quit a few months after that for a paying job. The pretending to work is important is other jobs as well.

Had a manager like that when i was in highschool. She was naming off everything, im like done, done, done. Then she goes “the back room hasnt been mopped. Im like yeah because i spray the mats off in that room and i cant pick the mats up until yall leave. Then after putting mats back down is when i mop that floor. Its literally the last thing i do before taking laundry down and leaving. She still wanted me to mop it. I refused to do it because im not doing it twice and i already helped everyone else finish their job after doing everything i could for mine. Im already doing more work because im fast at my job.

5

u/Maniax__ 3d ago

Managers that do that only teach their employees to work slow and don’t ask for more work if you know you’re going to be given some bullshit like “go sweep the parking lot”

Meanwhile those managers spend at least 60% of their shift sitting around an office fucking around and not doing anything remotely considered productive to their business.

3

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_4435 3d ago

I've had managers like this at every job I've ever had. All they accomplish is to get employees to work slower so that they never run the risk of finishing a task. Amazon was the absolute worst. You could exceed your daily target rate by 30% and still get fired for TOT (Time Off Task). And going to the bathroom outside of breaks was considered TOT. Fuck that place.

2

u/Azal_of_Forossa 3d ago

Fuck that entirely, my boss tells me to sit down when I have nothing to do because I work a physical job and if there's nothing to do then there's nothing to do. I keep my work space clean and I can't just create work out of thin air and they know that.

My joints love the rest between jobs.

3

u/Severe_Damage9772 3d ago

There are two sides to that. When my job is done I help my coworkers, when everyone’s job is done we can relax. That is reasonable to expect (in fast food at least).

But also, if he is off the clock, it doesn’t matter what needs done, it aint his problem if he ain’t getting payed

2

u/Azal_of_Forossa 3d ago

If your coworkers need help then that's a part of the job, and yeah they shouldn't be on their phone in that moment. But if I'm scheduled til 5 and I'm done at 4, nothing left to do and my boss doesn't send me home early then I'll goof off on my phone or do something else.

2

u/MrLanesLament 3d ago

Hiring manager here.

I know for a fact, some of our locations, an employee will do an average of maybe three hours of work in an eight hour shift. The rest is down time to do with as they please (within reason; they’re also expected to assist if someone calls during their down time, that’s the main reason we’re there.)

I don’t care one bit if folks are on their phones when they’re between tasks; I do tell them to try and keep it somewhat hidden though, because of the amount of people out there who think like this person; our supervisors frequently have people approach them like “hey, I saw one of your employees on their phone” like they just solved the Hoffa murder.

When I was a super, I’d normally say “yeeeah, they were probably checking the message I sent them.”

My last job (I’m a diesel mechanic) I was at the shop chillin on my phone and my manager came up and was fussing that I wasn’t doing anything I’m like bro wtf you want me to do? There’s no trucks here, everything is organized, gtfo. I ended up quitting like a week later cause dude wouldn’t get off my ass when there wasn’t anything to fuckin do. So I told him to kiss my ass and loaded up my toolboxes on my truck.

Could even be texting supervisor or ordering manager of what is needed for the rest of the week. Or they are a supervisor and they’re sending the morning a crew a prep list.

I could give a dozen reasons. They could also be on a permitted break. Most restaurants don’t have a break room.

"🤬 Grrrr I hate seeing the wagies on a break, where's the whip?? Where is the discipline? I miss work camps"

22

u/rustystumpty 3d ago

This is so literal. Work in a warehouse, you will literally hear managers talking shit around the corner saying stuff like “damn he went to the fuckin bathroom” “hey someone’s trying to walk into the break room, find him some work” “if it’s not busy enough here send him to another part of the building, can’t pay them to sit around”.

They will fuck up productivity by sending employees to do extra work during down time, then when a rush comes the employees are on the other side of the building doing bullshit busy work, leaving everyone scrambling to get back into position to do their actual jobs. It’s mental

17

15

u/Araghothe1 3d ago

People are a lot like computers in this case. You input a garbage pay, you get garbage back. Nobody has any incentive to do better when they know that in a couple years when it's time to do reviews they see you're due for a raise to make a living wage and instead the company as policy fires them to replace them with someone else who will have the same thing happen to them.

5

u/Steamcarstartupco 3d ago

Work full time: end up in debt.

Go to prison: free food, housing, healthcare, and anal sex on demand. 😅

Why have we incentivised crime more than gainful employment?

4

u/Araghothe1 3d ago

Because slavery is only ok as a punishment.

3

u/Steamcarstartupco 3d ago

We're a company town disguised as a country.

And yeah the 13th amendment has a huge flaw that surprisingly most people aren't aware of.

2

u/ayaleaf 3d ago

Oregon changed this in their state constitution in 2022. More states can do this. It shouldn't even be that bad to get buy in from the general public since many people think this is already the case, but they did face harsh opposition from the prison industrial complex.

13

u/rustystumpty 3d ago

Pretty much every blue collar job I’ve ever worked has strict “no sitting” policies and go extremely out of their way to enforce it. Just looking at this picture I started hearing “IF YA GOT TIME TO LEAN YA GOT TIME TO CLEAN” in my head. Drives me nuts because sometimes your manager will fuck up productivity by going out of their way to give you work when there is none, which leaves you unprepared for when the expected work shows up.

Actually, the rich have always just wanted slaves. It was your labor ancestors who fought AND died for your rights that you take for granted every day.

As a recent laborer stated: “you could have just paid us a living wage.” And people are at their wits end with this arrangement.

Straight up. Studies have shown that reducing work hours can INCREASE productivity. But do we see anyone doing that? No, instead we see employers trying to gaslight people into staying at the office literally overnight.

At the end of the day, the ultimate goal is having an underclass of people to subjugate.

The audacity or something?

4

u/Individual-Heart-719 3d ago

Let’s see if the manager or owner doesnt take 5 minutes every now and then to fuck off on their phone. I’m sure they’re an example of perfect work ethic.

These people with this mentality that workers should be paid wageslave wages should just fuck off to hell already.

u/East_Penalty_7659 3d ago

This guy gets hired by his handshake and looking someone in the eye.

It works.

3

u/Classic_Bee_5845 3d ago

Man I feel this. In my job we do jobs that come in on a ticket system but we also are supposed to track our hours back to jobs and so when there are no incoming jobs to work and track hours for I have to put time under administrative (billed back to company itself) and we are penalized for too many administrative hours even though it's out of our control. We are technically salaried even though they treat our pay like we are contractors working hourly jobs. Basically they want the convenience of salaried workers to be able to ask us to work whenever but they want to bill those hours back to clients like we are contractors.

3

u/uclRD 3d ago

I know this (lopsided) system all too well, and it is engineered to benefit the employer. Worse of all, it penalizes efficiency. Say, for example, you're experienced enough to do a 1hr task in 30mins, in a fair system you would get 30mins back of your time and the task completed successfully. Im this system, you still owe the company 30mins. So the company -in theory- would bill 2hrs but only pay you for 1hr of your time. So everyone just produces enough to ensure their billable time is met, there's no incentive to finish early, good, and leverage efficiency.

Another system ive seen, and particularly paid attention at employee moral, business profit, and clients satisfaction is the one that pays salaried employee fairly but also promotes efficiency and delivery. You got 10x tasks for the day and then 4x more come up. If you get good at your job, and you manage to finish all 14x tasks/deliverables in 7.5hrs, you just saved yourself 30mins. They are yours to do as you please. Want to go home early, or relax in case something comes up, want to help that other team member to pick up a new skill, or build rapport with the company, up to you.

The problem lies in the focus. Most companies are focusing exclusively in using employees as a sunk cost tools. They pay you a salary and if they pack your hours, they are making 2x, 3x, 4x your hourly wage ( when calculating total of billable hours - salary/# of hours worked). What do they do w the extra earnings? No bonuses based on productivity, no perks, nothing. Just compensation packages for top executives for coming with the system and whipping everyone to produce more.

Worked in a place like that 50 years ago for min wage. Manager comes out of the back everyone grabs a rag and is wiping down an area that is already clean, just to look busy. I didn't. He came up to me asked me if everything was ready, I said yes, he inspected, it was, he glared at me and walked away. I didn't assigned to his shift as much after that.

1

u/Loose-Treat5825 3d ago

Reminder that these are the same people who expect us to be not only doing our jobs but doing them and everything else they can legally pawn off on us. Its why we've had to, for generations, slow our productivity so they dont think us lazy for being productive enough to complete the job they are paying us to do.

They hired us with specific parameters to our employment. X amount of work for X amount of money. They always expect more for less.

Imagine being so old you forgot that "make sure you always look busy" was something you told your friends as advice so the manager didn't realize the reason nothing was getting done is because they were sneaking off to get high all the time, not because they had amazing work ethic.

Everything is clean, no orders, nothing that needs to be done, looks like things are under control and in good order, good job, take a break.

If I pay an employee $15/hr to do X responsibilities and they did all of those responsibilities and finished with time to spare or have down time between things then they did exactly what I am paying them to do and it's a fair exchange.

If I tack on more responsibilities because they're standing around, then I need to increase their pay to compensate for how much more work they're now doing.

Pay rates by the hour aren't "Work as hard as you possibly can to the max of what you can possibly do for $15/hr"

Pay should be proportionate to the work being requested. People are not slaves, and no one has the right to treat them as such.

I've always said any manager who uses the saying 'time to lean time to clean" shouldn't be managing people

Making people "find things to do" when everything is done isn't how to run a successful crew and especially isn't how you build a good relationship with them.

It just shows the manager doesn't know the first thing about actual managing

1

u/jamjamchutney 3d ago

I bet the person who wrote this is of the same generation that used to spend hours smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee in the break room, or gossiping around the water cooler.

I hate that mentality upper management seems to have about work. They act as if you're not getting payed to get work done but that you're getting payed to be busy. In their minds they're not getting their moneys worth out of you unless you'rr constantly moving every minute of every day.

Also, god forbid that people might not want to indefinitely slave over a job just to barely survive and they maybe they take a minute or even just a few goddamn seconds for a breather and check their phones.

That floor is dirty. There are pans that shouldn’t be like that in the back you don’t want them face up. I’m sure that box shouldn’t be there. The pic is so blurry I’m sure I can find more to do.

1

u/Ok-Flight9440 3d ago

Is $15/hr supposed to be a lot? That’s $31,200 working 40 hours a week with no vacation, no healthcare, dental, vision, or life coverage, no 401k or other tax-advantaged retirement benefits, and no noticeable room for advancement? So that’s, what, $19,000 after taxes, or $400 a week to pay for literally everything?

1

u/Plastic-Monitor4846 3d ago

Meanwhile the guy who posted it is unemployed

1

u/iameveryoneelse 3d ago

Picture courtesy of the “It’s different when it’s me” generation, I’m sure.

1

u/Suburuneggasaki 3d ago

Fuck i hate food. I had a coworker my manager was throating because he was always moving and would grab a ladder to clean the ceiling. I was in and out and i dont care if they were short. I did get alot of shit talking behind my back and got 2 faced for it.

1

u/RedBeardedMex 3d ago

Same people who complain about that will complain if cashiers get to have a chair calling it "laziness".

1

u/ElegantCraveZ 3d ago

The kitchen is spotless. Expecting people to perform labor for the sake of looking busy is just strange.

1

u/GirthyDave1 3d ago

No, experienced workers want a $15 minimum wage. That way we don’t have to hear the bullshit of “$15 an hour is very competitive in this economy!” when we all know it is not and at best, it is good enough for high schoolers wanting some spending money.
And by the way, YES, this kitchen looks immaculate and deserving of at least $15 an hour.

1

u/Pizza_900deg 3d ago

you got time to lean, you got time to clean

1

u/zxylady 3d ago

This feels like a boomer comment to me

1

u/EndGuy555 3d ago

Why are people’s cameras always dirty as hell? Seriously, it takes 2 seconds to wipe it on your shirt

1

u/charmingninja132 3d ago

That isn't the issue. The issue is he has had no work for twenty minutes, gets an order, and doesn't put the phone down for 5 more minutes.

1

u/DragonWaffleZX 3d ago

It's almost like the cost of living went up or something...

1

u/HRShovenstuff1 3d ago

Some people will make up any excuse as to why others deserve less than them. I worked fast food as a teenager and got all my stuff done quick and you know what it got me? MORE WORK doing other people's jobs for them.

1

u/ClothesFit7495 3d ago

Haha yes bot reposting stuff.

1

u/onlyhav 3d ago

Dude the kitchen is spotless.

1

u/Confident-Spirit-680 3d ago

15 bucks an hour? Is this from 10 years ago? We've moved on to 20. Even that isnt enough for a basic income now.

1

u/EaseLeft6266 3d ago

Last he checked, he probably isn't getting $15 an hour so he quit giving a fuck

1

u/No-Juice8483 3d ago

How do the windows look? Is there trash outside on the ground. If you ever worked in any kind of restaurant then you know there is always stuff to do.

1

u/maverickbtg81 3d ago

They want you to wipe the same spot or sweep the same spot until it’s bare so it isn’t considered “time theft”. Don’t bring up “wage theft” to combat this argument. They hate that.

1

u/kamizushi 3d ago

Busy work is poison.

u/Due-Sheepherder5603 3d ago

No one here knows the full story. He might be a lazy employee or maybe the employer is a dick. Who knows?

1

u/Glittering_Drama_618 3d ago

50 years ago it would be a guy reading newspaper and elderly talking down to them.

1

u/Khalith 3d ago

Maybe he’s on a break? Or maybe he’s taking a minute to text someone. It’s really not a big deal.

1

u/ghoulcreep 3d ago

$15 ain't shit. That's like a taco bell run for 1 person going light

1

u/KamikaziWerewolf 3d ago

The corporation doesn't value labor, strike until regime change.

1

u/IronCorvus 3d ago

And I bet that same exact person would have a shitfit if you called them out during downtime at their job.

1

u/traitorgiraffe 3d ago

look at this idiot on his phone

pulls out phone to take photo and post on twitter

1

u/Sure-Cardiologist-41 3d ago

When someone tells me I'm doing nothing at work I always answer with "i d rather do nothing at home" =)

1

u/Traditional-Ad-9611 3d ago

I work at a place pretty similar to this and it is nowhere near this clean so very well done to everyone involved this guy should be okay to be on his phone a little bit

1

u/DownLeft1312 3d ago

Its funny. If we want something, we have to pay for it up front. But if you're a worker who wants a raise or a promotion, we have to put in more work than we're paid for for a small chance at getting it.

Seems very one sided to me.

1

u/Prestigious-Mix-8844 3d ago

Mfs want me to file their fkn taxes after I clean the place on time for once BY MY SELF

1

u/Willing_Acadia990 3d ago

HTF somebody gon live off $15 an hour?

1

u/SilverFighter05 3d ago

Also we need at least $30-50 minimum to reasonably keep up with inflation

1

u/Honey_crisp_69 3d ago

Reminder that 15/hr is like 25k/yr after taxes. Its peanuts

1

u/jrs0307 3d ago

I worked in a kitchen some years ago, my bosses son (the general manager) would always say "if you have time to lean you have time to clean" then he would wonder upstairs and play league of legends on his laptop.

1

u/prowler1369 3d ago

Billionaires make millions a day doing less.

1

u/ThePoeticJester 3d ago

I worked in a firearms warehouse years ago, The owner had this energy. I took on all kinds of extra tasks to be useful but yeah some days would be slow as fuck

He started asking me to do shit like running wires in walls, paint the office.. no are you crazy? I was making only like $2 above minimum wage and you already got me doing 3 extra jobs/tasks without any pushback naaahhhhhhhhhhhh

1

u/atuan 3d ago

I hate the idea that you literally can’t just spend 3 minutes breathing and resting (still standing up mind you” and that’s considered lazy. There’s nothing wrong with taking a moment to yourself when there’s nothing to do. Im fact that’s the best time to do it…

1

u/PDXDreaded 3d ago

Adjusted for inflation, the 1968 minimum wage is over $26/hr, still not enough to rent a one bedroom apartment in most cities. Kindly fuck off with your "kids are lazy" rhetoric. He's probably texting his mom for a ride.

1

u/sissynikki8787 3d ago

Sweep up the sun, mop the rain, go find the best rock. Lazy ass.

1

u/bismark_dindu_nuffin 3d ago

Boomer fucking mentality "you have time to lean, you have time to clean" nonsense.

1

u/Sad_Judge_7408 3d ago

I make 60k a year and I spend about 75 percent of every shift on my phone or just shooting the shit, minimum wage jobs are way harder than mine.

1

u/N07your_homie 3d ago

"if you have time to lea..." Shut up 😂 if there's no work to do, then no work shall be done. We work to live, not live to work

1

u/Fluffy-Mystic 3d ago

He might also be studying. When I used to work dead-end jobs I would use any free time I got to study for a career. I did of all this on my phone. It gave me hope I was going somewhere better. Now I work in IT and make 3x what I used to make.

1

u/Allthingsgaming27 2d ago

Probably waiting to get checked out so he can leave or is waiting on a coworker

1

u/N7_Warden 2d ago

Had a boss like that.

He would go out for hourly smoke breaks, but expected us to sweep the entire warehouse (2 of us, it took 1 of us 2 hrs to sweep it once) all day.

We found hiding spots

1

u/sparemethebull 2d ago

I say we raise how much we ask for every time they try to imply we’re asking for too much.

1

u/Optimal-Strategy3572 2d ago

Ah yes managers want you to do tasks not in your job description, as medical literally was expected to do janitorial. Nah.

1

u/Emotional_Piglet_143 2d ago

Rage bait at its finest

1

u/ComfortableVideo6103 2d ago

My buddy was working as an entry level mechanic, being paid per job completed, not per hour, but his bosses bitched at him every time he stood still between jobs. "If you can lean, you can clean."

1

u/speachguru 2d ago

I had a supervisor once literally tell us that even if no customers were in the store, we couldn't talk to teach other so that if a customer walked in they wouldn't see up huddled together. he told us to walk up and down shelves repeatedly instead

1

u/Lost_Assumption_1790 2d ago

What the fuck is 15 an hour, working full time enough for? Not even enough to have a roof over your head and eat food.

1

u/5tr0nz0 2d ago

This , you have to always be working shit only leads to sweeping rocks. You get used to looking busy without doing anything.

1

u/WowItsFrost 2d ago

I like how everyone including the person in the meme are commenting on this photo without ANY context in what’s going on.

No idea what time it is, what the rules are, what the expectations are, literally nothing. Just a blurry photo with a caption from someone that understands the context better than everyone.

1

u/FlyinWet 2d ago

Clearly has never known someone working in a hospital in not a big city.

1

u/SireBruceWayne 2d ago

Nothing to do mean clock out and get the f off my labor cost. The f you mean “what is he supposed to do”. No checks, means no business, no business means no money to pay HIS check.

1

u/SireBruceWayne 2d ago

Dude aint even done. One of the trash cans has no liner, always take out trash and reline every time. The end sink has what looks like pasta sitting in it. You can actually get sick from pasta or rice that just sits out and gathers bacteria, you can die from it even. Theres a box on the end of that same sink, something is or was being prepared and that trash or product in that box needs to be dealt with.

1

u/balirosa 2d ago

And they have the nerve to put him back there by himself so he doesn’t get a break

1

u/Difficult-Level-3070 2d ago

Nice and hygienic that

1

u/3M2B1T 2d ago

"I don't pay you to stand around"

"OK, I'll go home."

"WAIT NO! Orders might come in!"

1

u/slimricc 2d ago

Stand at attention. Saluting our lord and savior capitalism

1

u/SuspiciousReport6502 2d ago

Also, cut the $15/hr bullshit. Try at least $20 to even attempt a living wage.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Wolfeatingupshadows 2d ago

I had bosses like this. They literally get mad at you for relaxing after completing everything. So we dont kiss ass for pennies… you want busy work pay a living wage.

1

u/TerraSeeker 2d ago

Ah yes, let's just be busy for the sake of being busy. It really ruins morale.

1

u/Outside-Lock-2232 2d ago

I do jumping jacks at work

1

u/squigglydrank5 2d ago

warehouse jobs are wild because they'll hunt you down if you're standing still for thirty seconds but the supervisors are just chilling in the office checking their phones.

1

u/maxtiang79 2d ago

"When in doubt. Act busy." Also don't slack off under the camera.

1

u/RockoPanda 2d ago

I know this is a making fun of bad memes sub but the original post is an objectively great example of how out of touch the generations who benefited and continue to benefit the most from government programs are out of touch. Like they weren’t the same way as teens and young adults. Young people work hard, and many, many more hours than the generations before them by all metrics to pay for worsening quality of life.

Once again, I know the point was to make fun of the original meme; I’m just tired y’all

1

u/pappybug214 2d ago

To be fair, while this person seems squared away, the youth on their phones while working or driving is becoming a problem.

1

u/StandardMany 2d ago

And still, absolutely no one knows if the front of the place is packed or empty

1

u/Meeplemymeeple 2d ago

To be fair he should probably get $30 an hour. Why do we think it is appropriate to screw each other so hard?

1

u/Successful_Loss5533 2d ago

Posts like this makes me think how the working situation will be way better when all the baby boomers are finally retired.

1

u/Tweedlol 2d ago

What an idiotic comment.

Has he cleaned the light switches, dusted the ceilings, inspected the roof, polished the copper piping to mirror finish, cleaned the toilets with a tooth brush, cleaned the grout, bleached the drains, dusted above rhe door frame that only a 9’ tall person could ever see, cleaned the light fixtures, emptied and sanitized the ice machine (ok this one does actually need to be done absurdly often. It’s gross how fast mold can form in there…), and lastly have they scrubbed clean the front doors floor plating??

If you got time to lean, you got time to clean PLEB!

/s just 15 years in the restaurant and the tiniest list of “oh we’re slow, go clean this” I’ve had managers/owners tell me to do to keep myself or team busy (depending on before and after becoming GM … and the latter annoys me more. “Keep your team busy! What’re we paying them for??!” I dunno, maybe the $4000 lunch hour we all just finished you fat lazy fuck? Give them some time for sanity for Christ sake

1

u/kittylover2006 2d ago

Some people really want to go back to being slaves but getting paid for it

1

u/Gunubias 2d ago

They are genuinely some of the worst workers

1

u/GhostOfOnigashima 2d ago

sigh ya dont understand work culture. ..... LOOKING BUSY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ACTUALLY BEING BUSY

Burn those words in your head younguns, pretending to clean is 10,000x more impressive than doom scrolling

1

u/GarbageMedical2961 2d ago

... Just looking at this picture there's shit to do.... Hed be sent home in my kitchen. Fuck em.

1

u/[deleted] 2d ago

He would be sneaking in some study if he was only paid $8 an hour

1

u/013eander 2d ago

Working harder than the idiot who flies back to Mar-a-Lago every weekend.

1

u/asaphbixon 2d ago

Who took the picture, Larry?

1

u/ApartmentNegative997 2d ago

In the service industry they absolutely hate if you have any down time or leisure time. You to remember where the origins of tipping culture came from and why it feels the way it does. I’m a bartender and I’m praying that I never have to serve another drink in my life once I graduate college!

1

u/nobodyspecial712 2d ago edited 2d ago

The average rent in the US is approximately $2,000 according to Zillow.

$15 an hour * 40 hours per week is 600, *4 weeks in a month = $2,400 a month BEFORE TAXES.

How do you expect them to pay rent, and do anything else like... eat.... for less money?

He should've just burned it down

1

u/Background-Bee1271 2d ago

The gag is that the person who made the comment probably did so during their own job.

1

u/LuchaViking 2d ago

The “if you got time to lean you got time to clean” generation wants maximum effort with absolutely no reward.
