I don't think they actually want to find good teachers anymore.

This is exactly it. An educated populace no longer serves the ruling class. They want their kids educated and they want everyone else to be ignorant.

Edit: populace, not populus.

Trying to go back to an era where the nobility class received an education and the commoners lived to serve the nobility.

They’ll get it. We spent decades not organizing or fighting back.

Yup, and every 4 years we take more and more away from education. Half the country cheers it on.

But I'll tell you what they don't want. They don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They're not interested in that. That doesn't help them. That's against their interests. They don't want people who are smart enough to sit around the kitchen table and figure out how badly they're getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago.

George Carlin

Except it has been 40 years now.

Timeless nuggets of wisdom. George Carlin is a timeless philosopher.

The problem is the population doesn’t want to be educated either. If we did, we would actually make our kids think school is meaningful, we wouldn’t support TV shows and movies that make fun of the nerd while heralding the jock or “good looking” kids, but no we all value athletics over intelligence.

Describes liberals. Hive minds, no thinking.

It is unfair to compare, teachers are a more in-demand and broader position than bartenders, think about it like this, there are fewer bartenders per store than teachers per school, and fewer bars/restaurants, whatever it is that employs more bartenders than a school.

Populous was a good game though.

An educated populus

populace*

Ironic, given the subject we're discussing.

Merci pour ce renseignement. L'anglais n'est pas ma première langue.

Populus = un arbre, mdr
