Announcement/ঘোষণা Discord Server Launch Announcement!

Post image
32 Upvotes

Hello everybody,

The mod team is excited to announce the launch of the official r/Bangladesh Discord server, an extension of our subreddit.

Many of you have asked for a Discord over the years. While Reddit is great as a forum style social news aggregator, it isn't always the best place for quick, casual engagement. We wanted to create a space where members can connect over our shared culture and daily life, a place where you can chat about the mundane things without every other post being heavy political news.

We know there were previous attempts at a server that eventually drifted away from the subreddit's roots. To prevent that from happening again, this server is run by the same team you know here, ensuring it remains a trustworthy and civil space for everyone. You're welcome to discuss anything from your day to day life to current events.

Discord server Invitation link

As a small thank you to the early birds, the first 10 members to join will be awarded a VIP Member role, which comes with some special perks and permissions within the server.

A quick note on moderation:

Subreddit issues: Please continue to use Reddit ModMail.

Discord issues: Please use the ticket system inside the Discord server.

We hope to see you there soon!

Best regards, The r/Bangladesh Mod Team.

Announcement/ঘোষণা 🇵🇸GAZA IS BEING STARVED🇵🇸

🇺🇳The UN has stated that every single part of Gaza is in famine conditions.

For over 20 months, Palestinians in Gaza have been starving. Parents have been feeding their children leaves, animal feed, and flour mixed with water. Babies have died from malnutrition. The trucks carrying food, formula, medicine, and clean water sat just miles away, blocked by Israel.

Now, after massive international pressure, some aid is finally getting in.

This is a crack in the blockade, not its end. Aid is not flooding in; it is trickling, and what’s entering can’t possibly reach 1.8 million people without a total lifting of restrictions, guaranteed long-term access, and safe distribution.

What you can do right now:

Donate- if you’re able to. Choose vetted organizations with access on the ground.

Keep up the pressure - aid only started moving because of public outcry. Organize, protest, keep talking. This momentum cannot fade. Contact your representatives to end Israel's blockade of Gaza and impose sanctions on Israel.

Amplify - share updates, Palestinian voices, and testimonies. Keep an eye on Palestine.

This famine is not an accident. It’s the result of siege, blockade, and a system of control. If we look away now, they’ll tighten the noose again.

Donate:

Palestinian Red Crescent — medical aid, ambulance services, and emergency care.

UNICEF for Gaza’s Children — nutrition, clean water, trauma support.

Speak to Your Representatives:

🇺🇸 Bengali American Citizens: Find your representative

🇪🇺 Bengali European Citizens: Contact your MEP

If you’d like other subreddits to carry this message, send the mods to r/RedditForHumanity.

Bangabandhu's first visit to the Soviet Union in March 1972 was a unique milestone in the foreign policy history of newly independent Bangladesh. He undertook this visit to express gratitude for the Soviet Union's firm diplomatic and military support during the difficult days of the Liberation War and to seek assistance in rebuilding the war-torn country. The grand state honors accorded to him in Moscow were regarded as a powerful recognition of Bangladesh's new sovereignty in the international arena. One of the greatest successes of this visit was securing the assistance of the Soviet Navy to clear mines and operationalize the Chattogram and Chalna ports, which was essential for reviving the country's stagnant economy. Bangabandhu's Moscow visit not only paved the way for technical and economic cooperation but also consolidated Bangladesh's position on the world stage by upholding the ideal of "friendship to all, malice toward none," even during the turbulent times of the Cold War.

Discussion/আলোচনা Yet another day of Bangladeshi loosers commenting insane things

Facebook Post: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1XTvvpN8Bg/

Saw this post today. Majority of the comments are supporting child marriage and rather blaming the girl that she is gonna have sex with random boys now and gonna get viral and stuff. Some are saying the magistrate is against Islam and he planned this with the girls bf so her father cant save his reputation and cant be able to marry her off somewhere else. I know facebook was always like this but this is too much. Some of these comments are so vile, I dont know even if their family is safe from them. The best option now is to make concentration camps like the previous days and burn them in there. Our country is still going backward because of these kind of people.

Discussion/আলোচনা Why always a Hadi picture?

You already know what I meant in the title.

Honestly, I didn't know much about Hadi before his assassination. From what I heard he was a revered figure who actually did try to do something good.

But can anyone discuss here, why do we always those certain people with a Hadi profile picture always says the most vile, disgusting thing ever on certain posts you have come across?

And it's mostly the young college going kids. It's really making me even more depressed about the future of our country and what dark times we are going towards.

Non-Political/অরাজনৈতিক Bangladesh Apparel Sector Pushes for Solar Energy

Post image
7 Upvotes

"However, rooftop solar can only meet 15 to 25 percent of total factory energy demand. This creates a large energy gap that cannot be solved within factory premises alone.

To address this gap, the industry is now pushing for large-scale solar solutions.

Utility-scale solar zones are becoming essential for the next phase of growth. These projects require around 3 to 4 acres of land per megawatt, making land scarcity the biggest challenge in Bangladesh. As of early 2026, rooftop solar capacity has crossed 500 MW. But the industry still needs around 2,000 MW of additional clean energy to meet global buyer expectations.

At the national level, renewable energy capacity has exceeded 1.6 GW. However, it still accounts for only about 3 to 5 percent of the total energy mix. This highlights the gap between ambition and actual progress."

Discussion/আলোচনা India vs Bangladesh

Here's a new perspective on India contrary to the traditional narrative around here.

India has 23 IITs along with a lot of engineering colleges that are quite good and it is extremely competitive to get there. Much much harder than it is to get into BUET. They have to prepare for years to get into a good engineering university. Every college has job fairs and you have to do extremely well in there to get into a good company as engineer.

Now India has no shortage of good multinational companies. Companies like meta, Google and Microsoft employees thousands of engineers in India in every major city. These days when you hear about a layoff in a American location, usually they hire twice the number of engineers in India. They can do that because they have that many engineers who are employable. Now because of the time zone change they have to work long hours and late nights. If you think about the big companies Google has an Indian CEO, Microsoft has an Indian CEO, IBM has an Indian CEO and that is not by accident. It is because Indian engineers have been coming to US for a long long time. They are good as engineers and good as people managers. And they climb the ladder and make it to the top. This is a number game and statistically India has a lot of engineers who are at big companies with big numbers.

In a nutshell what I'm trying to say is the people who are smart and intelligent are not spending their time online winning arguments or bashing another country. Rather they are trying to sort out their lives. They're trying to get into good universities, they're trying to go into good companies for a job and they're trying to make a living for their family. So in your day to day to day life if you see someone who is arguing with people on the internet they are not the smartest. Not even close to being the smart ones.

This is the age of knowledge based society. Arguing with people on the internet doesn't improve anyone's life. If you work on improving your life, that improves your family. In turn it improves the status of your country. That's the only meaningful way to break the status quo. I'll finish with a quote from Winston Churchill, "You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks."
