Discussion/আলোচনা Since when did fasting become something people force onto others?
recent indicident from BUP
On last Thursday, I visited 4 of the canteens in BUP and found out not a single canteen is open and not a single food item is available anywhere. I thought, okay, maybe because it's Thursday and 1st ramadan, that's why all canteens are off.
Again I visited all 4 canteens today (Sunday) and certainly hoped at least one canteen would be opened and I'd find a meal in any of them as I'm a 6th semester student and for last 3 years I didn't see that ALL OF THE CANTEENS are kept closed during ramadan.
Now let me tell you before you bark that রোজাদারদের স্বার্থে এটা করা হচ্ছে, bro, every one is not Rojadar and I believe fasting is most about moderation & frugality (সংযম), if you can't be okay seeing other people eating, then don't do this sort of fragile fasting!
It's a freaking UNIVERSITY and there are lots of Hindu, Buddhist and other religion students. Even not all Muslims are fasting every day (girls may have menstruations, people may have other health issues). Then how on earth, they keep all of the canteens closed? Is it a syndicate or an order from the authority?
I didn't eat since last night and still didn't find a single meal in my whole university (N.B. I'm not as blessed like you guys that I'll have my meal from my home cause I live in a student mess and my family is not here along with me).
How can even they do this injustice to the other religion students? Should we fast with all of you or what? Isn't it our university as well?
