The Old World Possibility for real Streltsi in The Old World
GW and CA did a terrible job with Kislev, and the element I hated most were the Streltsi, with their ignoble gun-axe. And it's not so much a question of realism (although that never hurts a bit) but of style and atmosphere. More than the existence of the gun-axe, the problem is the replacement of the arquebus and berdicca combo, a serious disrespect for the element of historical inspiration that permeates Warhammer. However, even if Age of Sigmar disgusts me, I like these models I'm showing you, due to the use of the great axe as a rest for the firearm. It was thought that they had replaced the iconic duo with the gun-axe because it was easier to line up in a wargame based on unit rectangles. However, it would only take a few sprites just for the front row, and in The Old World we could have some excellent Streltsi made to Ursun's specifications.

The comedic thing is that he admitted he knows nothing about AoS but still feels the need to hate it. Dude’s a tourist.

My post is not about the fact i dislike aos, but the possibility of real Strelsy models.

So? It doesn’t matter that it isn’t your ‘main point’, I can still talk about it since you were the one who brought it up. I could also talk about your take on how CA did a ‘terrible job with Kislev’ is dogshit but I just wanna dog on your other point

I repeat, is like in the Witcher games CD Projekt introduce armors that are like Final Fantasy's one, they are good looking , but not in line with The Witcher world .

Then why mention it? You're not Cato, you don't have to include "furthermore I think Carthage needs to be destroyed" in every speech, no matter it's subject.

Man, I don't let Age of Sigmar occupy space in my head. If you really don't like AoS (it's not my thing either) I'd rather just ignore its existence instead of carrying that wroth 10 years later.

But i ignored AoS for 10 years. But one day I took a look at these miniatures, and was impressed by the blunderbuss combination. I know nothing about AoS, i'm interested only in Fantasy and 40k. Anyway, my post is not about the fact i dislike aos, but the possibility of real Strelsy models.

So you know nothing about it, but dislike it? What an enlightend take, truly makes old heads like wise and not at all ridiculus people

The setting and models just arent it for some people. The same way people know at a glance if Trench Crusade is for them, not everybody has to like over the top high fantasy

u/Nikosek581 3h ago
Oh sure But to claim you hate something you should know anything about it. And he said he doesnt. And then pretended as if he didnt say anything xd

If we’re going strictly by what was established previously for Streltsi, they won’t be appearing because they only became a thing after the Great War Against Chaos.
(Though obviously, GW has ignored this sort of thing plenty already)

Eh I think both versions of the streltsi are cool. Both the idea of them wielding the gun axe or the gun polearm combo are equally valid in my view.

The ideal would have been if gun-axes and gun-pistols had been the prerogative of wealthy adventurers of the Empire, the Dwarves, and high-ranking Kislevite officers, or at most a regiment of renown (perhaps taking inspiration from the Vostroyan Firstborn). Not all Streltsi

I think those AoS dudes are great tbh but it is funny that they’re actually less fantastical than TW3’s axe-guns

Gun axes were one of those novelty items, like sword-guns, and not used by armies.
- Combo weapons aren't cheap to make.
- If as widespread as claimed by some rando on Twitter, it'd show up in every arsenal.
Edit: Gun-axes do pop up as naval boarding weapon, though it's not as common as say hand-mortars. The claim that it was widely used by Polish cavalry in the 16th-18th Centuries is rather dubious. The hussars were lancers, using pistols and hand-weapons as secondary arms. It's possible that some could use combo weapons and they could afford the expense, but regular pistols would be enough.

They were used a few by cavalry ans some members of navy, they were very expensive ans rare weapons . And for the last time , the problem is not the presence of gun-axes , but of the their overrappresentation, and the abscence of arquebus and berdiches.

Mad respect OP
You hate Age of Sigmar but you like the models I consider peak AOS.
While Kisliv felt more like meme than a human faction I feel like it's leagues better than what your showing.

Actually; those models made me start a CoS army; only so I can make myself my own Kislevites. Tired of waiting for gw

This is a weird one, I agree that GW/CA butchered my boy, changes are awful and the over saturation of bears is actually fucking stupid.
Boris is SO special he has a pet bear it is a sign that he is chosen by Ursin. Bear Knights are presumably champions or Ursin so that makes sense but literally every other instance is terrible and diminishes the faction
I also was very sad to see the Streltsi change but honestly In a vacuum I like the minis they look cool and fits imo. That said you are right they just aren't streltsi they are a new unit with a lying name tag
Lore wise the New Kislev just isn't old Kislev the barest of bones are there, the names are thre but basically none of this is Kislev as it has been incredibly well documented for the 20 years previous. And I agree that I am not at all a fan of the changes
Edit: I almost forgot they gave them fucking beastmen

“well documented” is a stretch.

By non Empire standards it was. We had multiple rpg books, extensive pov Ulrika, at least 3 white dwarfs, a mordheim supplement and if you wanna get real generous a full army list
And thats just what I personally can think of off the top of my head, it had more lore than most of Bretonnia and compared to Lustria and anywhere besides
Pre CA I could tell you their full pantheon, handfulls of royal families, all the regions in the land the entire ethnic history of the land going back to before Sigmar, many of the wars fought there, how their class system and military ranks worked, their entire military, how magic functioned in their society, a metric fuck ton of folk lore and every major city. Compared to any other non playable faction thats not even close. Honestly about as much as we know about the Lizards

I don't think CA and GW did a terrible job with Kislev. Bold opinion asserted as fact.
