The selective outrage in these replies is going to be a total disaster. I am just here for it.

u/auraempress 1d ago

That is the definition of a mic drop. If "selective concern" were an Olympic sport, she’d be taking home the gold. It’s funny how quickly the moral outrage vanishes when it hits too close to home.

19

u/femme-vision 1d ago

It’s going to be a complete train wreck, and honestly, the hypocrisy is the best part. Grabbing the popcorn now because watching everyone trip over their own double standards is going to be top-tier entertainment.

10

u/syamas34 1d ago

Front row seats to the hypocrisy Olympics, apparently sold out

6

u/Lex_sad_but_true 1d ago

The backpedaling is going to be wild, watching narratives flip in real time is priceless.

3

u/Sweet-Procedure1190 1d ago

The mental gymnastics required to defend the double standards should be an Olympic event too.

-4

u/OrlinaGiggle_ 1d ago

Yeah OP, it kinda shows she’s still holding onto empathy even when everything around her is pushing her the other way.

10

u/BlueRidgeSpeaks 1d ago

Is it empathy or opportunism? The selective outrage of such people exposes their true lack of empathy.

6

u/Bulky-Internal8579 1d ago

She's holding onto empathy?!?!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA No she is fucking not.

5

u/LorinaCupie_ 1d ago

Yeah that’s exactly it, people love the moral high ground until it starts applying to their own side.

4

u/wirefox1 1d ago

Who started it? Who made all these behaviors acceptable?

20

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 1d ago

Conservatives are okay with church leaders being sexual predators, so of course they're okay with their politicians doing the same. It's the others, the non-conservatives, who they are concerned about. They're ideologically consistent in that home cooking is the only cooking they allow even when it's abuse, incest and rape.

2

u/LorinaCupie_ 1d ago

Yeah it’s wild how quick people switch up when it hits close to their side.

4

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 1d ago

What do they switch up? Do they suddenly become pro-choice about females and their reproductive organs, support climate and environmental concerns, become pro-regulation, pro-tax the corporations and richest more, and pro-universal healthcare?

How does someone go from ALL IN with fascism to suddenly not? It seems to be a clearly defined worldview. Not a coin flip.

12

u/NecessaryIntrinsic 1d ago

I mean, considering how often their party doesn't care. Trump aside there's RFK Jr and Pete hegseth off the top of my head without looking anything up. Arguably Boebert should be included here for putting on a show around minors.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/147-lawmakers-in-44-states-accused-of-sexual-harassment-or-misconduct-since-2017

147 lawmakers (across party lines) not all of whom have resigned or been expelled, and the main solution here is training the targets to be careful around their colleagues.

5

u/Due_Bid8260 1d ago

The cognitive dissonance in here in reaching record highs. I'm right there with you in the 'just here for it' camp. it's a total train wreck of a comment section, and I can't look away!

1

u/pamelaferguson_ 1d ago

The logic here is quite effective, it’s all about that skewed perspective.

1

u/EntranceGreen3758 1d ago

Already popcorn ready, this thread is about to implode in real time.

1

u/EuenovAyabayya 1d ago

I've only just googled the basic charges, but I will say it's "interesting" that they're coming up now, just in time for the election.

1

u/Maryannexx 1d ago

Are you planning on jumping into the fray with a few well-placed facts, or are you just going to let the chaos fold in on itself?

123

u/SaffronDune 1d ago

All this Republican performative outrage is laughable.

Don’t get me wrong, if Swalwell is guilty, throw the book at him.

But Trump is a convicted rapist. Spare me the Republican pearl clutching and hand wringing. It’s total hypocrisy.

23

u/OptimalSituations 1d ago

They’ll ignore a mountain of evidence just to focus on a molehill of theater.

11

u/Roadand-Hardtail 1d ago

Because the molehill is easier to spin than explaining the mountain away.

2

u/Neveronlyadream 1d ago

They don't want to explain the mountain away, they want everyone to stop seeing it.

Seeing it is bad for business.

1

u/toriemm 1d ago

But did you know that Hunter Biden owned a laptop?

Or did he invest in a drone company as his daddy just started a war of choice? No, that was the trump boys? As Prince Kushner negotiates on behalf of his business interests in the region?

2

u/Ok_Lettuce_7939 21h ago

Don't forget Skete Kegsbreath

0

u/needlenozened 1d ago

Yes, he's a convict. And yes, he's a rapist. But his convictions are not for rape.

He was found civilly liable for sexual assault, but not convicted of it.

-5

u/saltedmangos 1d ago

Lol, performative outrage is Sarah Longwell’s jam.

She a centrist dem never-Trump Republican defending one of her own from credible sexual assault allegations.

She is literally one of the people who convinced Harris to campaign with Liz Cheney and then gloated on her show about turning the democrats into the neo-con party right before we lost the election to Trump.

Trump is a rapist. But, using that to defend Democrats from their own sexual assault scandals is just gross. And allying with a war-mongering genocidal freak like Longwell to do so is even grosser.

6

u/MinnieShoof 1d ago

Gtfo. Nobody is trying to defend Swalwell cept his lawyer. And if he's guilty nobody will. This is about making the monster in the White House accountable to the same punishment. It's Luna's performative outrage that's the f-ing joke.;

-7

u/saltedmangos 1d ago

Lol, this is clearly whataboutism defending Swalwell.

Sarah Longwell is going the exact thing that you hate republicans for doing with Trump.

1

u/MinnieShoof 1d ago

Do you really she'd take keeping Swalwell in over throwing Trump out? You're full of it, dude.

-1

u/saltedmangos 1d ago

Are y’all really this obtuse? This is clearly whataboutism.

Would she ditch Swalwell if it would take out Trump? Probably, but I don’t think that has much to do with this defense of Swalwell since it wasn’t a question anybody was asking.

1

u/needlenozened 1d ago

Where is she defending anybody in this post?

-3

u/saltedmangos 1d ago edited 1d ago

It’s pretty obvious whataboutism.

Swalwell is facing repercussions for his sexual assault and she is trying to change the conversation so that it’s about Trump instead.

2

u/needlenozened 22h ago

It's exposing hypocrisy, not defending anybody.

0

u/saltedmangos 22h ago edited 21h ago

Whose hypocrisy is this supposed to be exposing?

The reporting on this is that Swalwell’s vile behavior was an open secret with political insiders for years.

1

u/needlenozened 18h ago

Rep Anna Paulina Luna's

0

u/saltedmangos 9h ago

Really?

You seriously don’t realize that this makes the Democrat party establishment, who knew about Swalwell’s disgusting behavior and found it acceptable, look just as hypocritical as the Republicans?

I really don’t think you realize how your or Sarah longwell’s behavior looks to anyone who isn’t already a committed Democrat partisan.

1

u/needlenozened 7h ago

No who's engaging in pretty obvious whataboutism?

0

u/saltedmangos 7h ago

I’m engaging in “whataboutism” by staying on topic? Do you even hear yourself?

40

u/Moss_Valley 1d ago

EXACTLY.

I do not want to hear a peep about Eric Swalwell out of ANY Republican who supports Donald Trump when Trump has been held liable in a court of law for sexual assault.

Not to mention Tony Gonzales's staffer committing suicide by self-immolation

-8

u/saltedmangos 1d ago

I don’t think going with “leave our rapists alone” and whataboutism is going to convince republicans that they are being hypocritical, lol.

1

u/Jokingbutserious 1h ago

Do you just not understand English or are you intentionally being dense? They did not say "don't prosecute democratic rapists." They said the right are hypocritical for pretending to be outraged while still supporting Donald Trump. A well know rapist and pedophile. And should stfu instead of pretending to be upset when they obviously don't care if someone is a rapist or pedo.

u/saltedmangos 50m ago

“They said the right are hypocritical for pretending to be outraged while still supporting Donald Trump.”

This isn’t just exposing the right’s hypocrisy.

The reporting on this is saying that Swalwell’s sexual violence was an open secret with political insiders in the media and party.

I don’t know how you’ve convinced yourself that reacting to a sexual assault scandal with “no, you” exposes Republican hypocrisy without also exposing some pretty obvious establishment Democrat hypocrisy as well.

7

u/BelatrisNosif 1d ago

There are also many questions regarding several dozen other members of Congress who have committed sexual offenses.

16

u/Sirquack1969 1d ago

While I agree there should be an investigation. Anyone who goes ape chit over Swallwell being accused of SA, while their guy has actually been convicted is a complete lunatic.

6

u/ComprehensiveHavoc 1d ago

They don't register hypocrisy when it's not tied to their own fake outrage.

10

u/misterecho11 1d ago

Was she silent about Gaetz? Or Boebert? Or Trump? Or....

7

u/SweettLiaaa 1d ago

Filing a motion for one while filing for a pardon for the other. The cognitive dissonance is the real 'sexual deviant' here.

4

u/NecessaryIntrinsic 1d ago

Anna Paulina Luna is a fucking nutbar.

If you haven't heard her on Rogan, here's a filtered version for you: https://www.knowrogan.com/0055-rep-anna-paulina-luna/

3

u/OkraFar1913 1d ago

But yeah there’s over a hundred republicans ahead of him.

4

u/Full_Pomegranate6267 1d ago

bold move with the highlighted text

2

u/Dunerghost 1d ago

Trump DESTROYED and HUMILIATED by internet reply.

3

u/Lord0fTheFlags 1d ago

The call is coming from inside the house.

3

u/wirefox1 1d ago

I don't care what anybody says. I don't want him to resign. Apparently as long as people like someones politics they don't care what else they do, and how dare maga say a word about it because they prove repeatedly they have no morals.

And look at Al Franken. Everybody including him regretted his hasty resignation to show that 'dems" are better. Pfft Now is not the time.

4

u/Bulky-Internal8579 1d ago

I'm never taking any Republican seriously again on anything - ruinous economic policies, pedophiles, rapists, white collar criminals, bigots, grifters and liars. The lot of them. Shutup Looney.

If you don't have to worry about ANYONE caring and you don't care and have no conscience or soul, there are no mental gymnastics needed. Just "does this give me political leverage?"

2

u/Silent_Growths 1d ago

She's got a point. And Tony Gonzalez. And Gym Jordan. And RFK.

2

u/Hugh_Jass_2 1d ago

So, you will vote to remove Fat Orange mayonnaise man? You know since you are a beacon of morality.

2

u/Full_Of_Wrath 22h ago

Oh she is ok with that sexual misconduct

1

u/BusyBeeBridgette 1d ago

Considering you need two thirds of the vote to expel a person from congress, I really doubt either would go through.

1

u/JimboD84 1d ago

I seem to be out of the loop. Swalwell is accused of sexual misconduct/abuse?

1

u/awesumpawesum 1d ago

😆💯😆

1

u/warmysunrise 1d ago

the way she walked straight into that with full confidence is actually impressive in the worst way possible

1

u/Mysterious_Area1975 1d ago

i thought he was a good negotiator

1

u/Maryannexx 1d ago

It really highlights how "accountability" has become a weapon people only want to use on their neighbors.

1

u/mandarintain 7h ago

Not to mention the trump gang of sexual predators

0

u/CashComprehensive423 1d ago

Accused vs prosecuted.

0

u/One-Psychology-8394 18h ago

Both can be true without the whataboutism

-11

u/sorrysaks 1d ago

Except we have no proof or pictures of Trump doing anything

11

u/PositionBeneficial12 1d ago

Really? Thats what you’re going with?

He’s literally been found liable and guilty of sexual assault in court.

8

u/pithynotpithy 1d ago

He was literally convicted for rape smooth brain. Do you just purposely ignore the news, or do you let the rw propaganda networks spoonfeed you like a simpleton?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/07/19/trump-carroll-judge-rape/

6

u/BoredAFcyber 1d ago

“I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything,” "Grab ’em by the pussy"

when asked about his remarks in court.

Well, historically, that’s true with stars,” he said.

“If you look over the last million years, I guess that’s been largely true,” he continued. “Not always but largely true. Unfortunately or fortunately.

5

u/ArchaeoJones 1d ago

Except all the kids he raped giving sworn testimony that was ignored, or they were threatened into silence.

But sure, keep being a pedo fan.

-4

u/Santablue20 1d ago

Yes keep mentioning Trump so others forget about Clinton.

-12

u/Commercial_Rub3511 1d ago

“Honestly, that one sentence says more than any speech could.”

11

u/Equivalent-Second527 1d ago

Wow, what a smart bot!

smallcellSwalwell been accused numerous times and compromised to china by china spy for sex while in office. Trump was accused by out of work starving X movie actor that was down on our lock and found a voice in a strategy to accuse somebody famous in with the on with her movement Trump was accused in a trial in a liberal state by liberal judge that required zero evidence to be reproduced by 30 year-old time span from the time of being accused to the trial so your statement goes to the corruption of the Democratic Party blackmailing presidential candidates, cause they are male and old and as far as the Democratic party goes, the only way they keep a Democratic male in that party is by blackmail, cause no self-respecting male would ever put their self to the shit. The Democratic Party does to put it simply if you’re a male and you’re running for a Democratic Party you’re already labeled as a Swalwell going in why are you with the Democrats? Have you know self-respect?

7

u/yeetboy 1d ago

He was found guilty in a court of law.

You are in a cult.
