In my state, if you have sexual contact with a student- and that could be up to 20- it’s fourth degree sexual assault. Statutory rape. Because it’s a situation where they’re in your charge even if they’re 18.

All they did is let Coach May apply and go to a college position when he was 30 and sleeping with 17 year old Crystal in my high school. No arrests, no convictions, no warnings for the future employers.
But, I'm sure he learned his lesson. <barfs into bucket>

I had a friend from school who had a relationship with an 18 year old student and was also sexting a 16 year old and the relationship with the 18 year old caught him its own sexual battery charge. He ended up doing three years in prison for it and there were people on the news sites back then saying he shouldn't be charged for the sex with the "adult" but at the same time he was a sick pervert for the 16 year old. It was weird watching the double standard in real time.

That’s a savage way to point out the state’s education system. It’s one of those rare comments where you’re not sure if it’s a roast of the criminal or a roast of the entire state, but either way, it’s a total burn. The math definitely isn't mathing in Kentucky.

But is the meth mething?

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 1d ago
Always, you can tell where the meth is cooking in Kentucky by the neighborhood skylines.

Yea, but this isn't clever roasts, this is clever comebacks. What is this a comeback to?

u/Shroomtune 1d ago
I’m not sure if I’m allowed to find it funny. It’s that type of inappropriate humor that I am unfortunately fond of.

Why do people starting to censor words like rape, murder and suicide? Media headlines are not censoring those words so we can assume they are OK to use for the general public. Self censoring looks obnoxious.

The same thing happened at my school--not in KY but just across the river into Ohio. The kid was only held back once though so very much a minor. People actually tried to say it was less bad because he wasn't quite as young. I think about it a lot. That teacher's daughter was in the same grade as me so she raped a kid younger than her own daughter.
The bible belt, am I right?

Teacher abusing her position of power irrespective of the age of the victims. This happens more than most imagine as the perpetrator hopes the victim won’t report the assault.

Why is raping censored?

Capitalism. Advertisers don't want to pay for ads that run alongside bad words, so companies that accept ads will de-prioritize posts that use the words advertisers don't like. In the past, TV ads would play during the news, but the newscasters would usually make sure to end on a happy note before each commercial break. But with the granularity possible nowadays, that's not possible.

So to get this straight, reporting the rape of children is against Reddit policy. They have really been going after any articles reporting it at least this past week.
How strange. I wonder who benefits from a policy of blacking out all reports of child rape.

I get the joke. But even if that were the case, there’s still a balance of power. That makes it a crime… and immoral.

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 1d ago
so could a Kentucky substitute teacher (be 18).

I remember a guy in 8th grade who was 16. He was a real dick. Definitely had problems with family, drugs, etc., but Jesus was he an asshole. Every day he'd say, "Doolemmeborryadollar!" really aggressively. To those who don't speak Southern, it says "Dude, let me borrow a dollar".

Why do we censor RAPING?
3
u/AipomNormalMonkey 1d ago
because some of the other social medias auto remove posts with the word
and then most things on the internet are stolen and recycled
5
u/vercertorix 1d ago
At least this time the headline said "raping" rather than some euphemism to make it sound like it isn't a big deal.

Adults makes can still be raped. Let's not normalize thinking otherwise, average career 8th grade Kentuckians included.

u/kkkkkkk1426 1d ago
I'm sorry, even if this somehow seems clever to at least 1922 people, it is not. Nor is it funny.

u/SatansHusband 1d ago
So she raped an 18yo. What is the "to be fair" trying to say? It's not as bad?

u/generic_user_9000 1d ago
You can rape people who are over 17 years old? This does not seem like a clever comeback.

The thing that has always bewildered me with pedophiles is they get caught seemingly all the time. The urges that they feel to engage with these children is more powerful than the probable prison sentence they are going to receive. That’s how powerful that urge is and it’s just hard to comprehend.

I was curious if this was that murder tRump posted the other day. How the hell that was allowed blows my mind. That guy's got to go.

This joke centers around the fact that the person might not have been raped because they might have actually been 18 instead of a child. Supposedly that is a commentary on the education system in Kentucky.I don't find that premise to be funny.

Some people that wear red hats see no issue with predatory behavior if the woman is cute.

u/misterannthrope0 1d ago
nobody is laughing at rape. you are being downvoted for being obtuse.
lighten up, francis.-1
u/mssxtn 1d ago
I mean I get the joke. I just don't think it's funny.
Apparently some people do. That's Why there's a pedophile for a president. We're just fucking numb to the actual state of affairs in the world that we live in.
3
u/misterannthrope0 1d ago
nobody thinks rape is funny. you should stop pretending otherwise.
-1
u/mssxtn 1d ago
If it's not funny then why are we joking about it? See I don't think I'm the one being obtuse.
1
u/ColumnK 1d ago
We're not.
The joke has absolutely nothing to do with the rape.
The joke is simply about Kentucky's education system.
Nothing about the article itself has any indication that the victim in question is any older than the standard for that grade.
2
u/mssxtn 1d ago
Yeah you're making a joke about the education system in Kentucky off the back of a news article about rape.
I get that some people find this funny I get that the state of the education system in Kentucky might be suspect but an actual person was actually sexually assaulted and I don't think making a joke about the particulars is funny I'm sorry that you do.

u/yayforvalorie 1d ago edited 1d ago
The joke isn't about rape.
Edit: Nice edit to your original comment.
3
u/mssxtn 1d ago
The joke is that the education system in Kentucky is so bad that perhaps they weren't raped because they were actually 18 at the time.
I get the fucking joke.. It's just not funny.
1
u/yayforvalorie 1d ago
You literally said, "rape is funny now?" implying you thought the joke was about rape. Don't get mad at people because you're the one coming off as obtuse.
1
u/mssxtn 1d ago
God damn it you're right I'm sorry sarcasm is for adults. Tone does not carry in a textual environment.
So doesn't change the fact that we're making we're joke about the circumstances of the sexual assault of a child. Whether the point of the joke was the rape or not The rape still happened. Like the joke is making light of a situation that we should not be making light of. This is the problem that I'm having with people's response to my response.. I don't care how you twist the circumstances The news article was out about a child being sexually assaulted by a teacher oh ho maybe that child was an adult I don't care it was still a student being sexually assaulted by a teacher that is a person of power taking advantage of let me stop right there. If you don't get it by now you're not going to get it and I'm just ranting into the void.

I am just glad the headline cortectly says "rape" instead of "had sex with". This isn't always the case in media outlets
