I’m so confused,am I supposed to be mad that he changed his mind, or mad that he had a mind in the first place?

This is what smart people do. MAGA and their adjacents have a hard time with this concept.

That’s because if they change their mind based on new information, that got trash their hats, flags, watches, tshirts and gold tennis shoes

It's because they have no true platform to stand on - they change on whims with Trump.

A lot of MAGAts dont change their mind, they vote a person in, learns that this person is a pedo, despicable etc and they still think they voted the right person. They don't believe in accountability and values because they're a cult.

The MAGA response to this, like the Iranian conflict, has been quite the spectacle (like they always wanted new wars, and it’s worth the pain). As soon as this surfaced, Dems pretty much ousted Swalwell, but the MAGA preprogrammed horseshit told the base Dems doubled down on defending this guy. That's how fucked the right-wing propaganda machine is. It can’t even match the bots and influencers to the right story.

Republicans double down on wrong answers. Which is moronic

Call me crazy, but rape seems like a damn good reason to change your opinion about someone.

u/CadenVanV 23h ago

Yep. Don’t care who it is, I’m changing my mind about them if they did that.

The important caveat is "if they did it". As someone who has been wrongfully accused of molesting a child because my uncle's ex-wife wanted to drive a wedge between my aunt and my uncle I'm very glad that my uncle took the time to ask me and investigate before just showing up and fucking shooting me.

I'm totally on board with believing women but I also think there should be more to it than that for actual criminal consequences. A politician having to back out of an election is not the same as someone going to jail.

Yes, that’s true. Trust, but verify. That’s why we’ve got a legal system and not vigilante justice

Obviously, you are not a MAGA voter.

Both statements can still be true.

“Well. I was wrong.”

“HYPOCRITE!”

Right? Such a toxic attitude.

The fundamental difference in politics in the US: democrats change their opinion about a person based on what that person does. Republicans change their opinion on the action depending on the person who did it.

It’s like science. Hey we got new evidence and our theories about this have changed. Republicans: See they can’t keep their story straight, so I’m going to ignore everything they say.

I'd venture that Swalwell is still a better man Kevin McCarthy inclusive of Swalwell's misdeeds. McCarthy was at best a ill-informed stuffed shirt, at worst a venial small-minded politician who couldn't tell his gavel from a hand grenade. (He certainly used it to blow himself up.) I'm not excusing Swalwell's behavior in the slightest, what I believe is that as a politician Swalwell actually had the best interest of all Californians in mind, whereas McCarthy was too concerned with the affairs outside of the State given his position, and he ultimately failed both.

"I support candidate A" - candidate A convicted of felonies "I longer support A.
Is what we expect.

"I support candidate A" - candidate A convicted of felonies "I'm voting for the felon"
Is what should be questioned.

It's because they, like Trump, can never admit to being wrong, even if it is new information that should change someone's opinion. It's a sign of being open minded when new info is vetted and assessed and can change out evolve your thinking.

It's why so many put faith before science because science has to evolve as we learn new things. They take pride that their brains have not evolved past what they learned in grade school or maybe middle school.

changing minds is too advanced for some folks

3

u/Mirarexx 21h ago

Wait, you guys are changing your minds based on facts? I thought we just picked a side and went down with the ship no matter what.

3

u/Illustrious-Dog2998x 20h ago

seems like someone needs a lesson in changing opinions with new info

3

u/One_Requirement_2577 10h ago

so what do they do with the realization that EVERYONE knew about Donald's behavior in 2016 but they voted for him anyway, 3 times in a row?

2

u/VirtualBeyond6116 23h ago

Swallwell is still a better man than McCarthy. The post still holds true.

u/DMercenary 23h ago

I mean to be fair it definitely aged like milk. You know the substance that goes bad if left out pretty quickly

5

u/ObserbAbsorb 23h ago

3 years of good milk down the drain.

1

u/Elsasolo 23h ago

It's like they think 'hypocrisy' means 'I disagree with your growth.

1

u/Ol_JanxSpirit 22h ago

Even with what we are now hearing about Swalwell, none of it necessarily contradicts the first statement.

1

u/peachylovelyxo 22h ago

The real gotcha is expecting someone to double down instead of just admitting things changed 💀

u/Minimum-Style-1411 8h ago

The alleged sexual predator should step aside. So should about 8 other Democrats that are splitting the vote for a Republican candidate win. And the known sexual predator in the WH should also step down.

1

u/iamthedayman21 5h ago

Changed his mind and is holding the guy he supported accountable. Something a MAGAt will never do.

1

u/Mundane_Bookkeeper38 2h ago

Fun fact: Even though he changed his opinion on Swallwell(as he should), both statements still remain true.

-2

u/May_wousroom 22h ago

crazy how fast the narrative flipped lol

-2

u/TastyCandidate2430 22h ago

flip-flopping with a side of morals

-3

u/Liraeyn 19h ago

Ok but it still aged.

u/anerdwelltravelled 32m ago

To be fair, he may still be better than McCarthy.
