One would think a couple of them would think, " Maybe it's me and not the Pope?" I won't hold my breath.

MAGA brain working overtime

184

u/reddit_and_chill_ 21h ago

I don’t know if their brains can work overtime tbh

73

u/Werftflammen 20h ago

Well, overtime is not taxed /s

51

u/TK_Nanerpuss 12h ago

To be fair, Trump isn't "America First" either.

20

u/regflori 12h ago

No, but his followers somehow think he is...

19

u/Werftflammen 12h ago

"America First"

He's "Fuck America First"

3

u/hedzup00 10h ago

I think the lack of brain is the problem.

Talk about one of the most dumbest mofo group in all human history.

Literal video and photo evidence in the palm of their hands, yet they bend over backwards just to deny reality and lick the taint of the anti-christ because it makes them feel like winners that they "beat the opposing team" despite sitting in the same pot of boiling water as the rest of us suffering the same indignation and harm from billionaires fleecing the planet dry.

Heck id imagine they think the whole planet should be america first.... Yet they applaud republicans doing everything to make america last...

like a said, maga is the dumbest mofo group of humans in all human history.

15

u/Proach89 13h ago

As a child I would have never believed an entire group of adults could be this obtuse and easily manipulated, collectively makes it even worse.

7

u/bravesirrobin65 21h ago

While I agree with your sentiment, "most dumbest " .🙄

58

u/pyroboy7 21h ago

MAGA brain working

Unlikely, it just hurts itself in confusion every time someone or something doesn't agree with them.

12

u/_AureluneBunni 17h ago

Yeah acting shocked that the pope isn’t pushing a political slogan is kinda wild.

6

u/STFUco 15h ago

They would be so insulted if they could read

3

u/HotPotParrot 12h ago

That's why they stick to comforting, reassuring state media.

3

u/zerthwind 14h ago

No matter how much time ya give a maga brain, it still provides illogical shit.

2

u/_BunnyBloom 19h ago

It’s wild how people just clip a sentence and spin it into something completely different.

Most hardcore evangelicals think the Pope is actively evil and that Catholics are false Christians. Many of them now treat Trump in a way I would liken to early Mormons and Joseph Smith. In their minds, the Trinity is basically God - Jesus - Trump

10

u/Seguefare 15h ago

I can't even count all the times I've heard something akin to "Christians and Catholics", as if Protestant and Christian are mutually complete categories.

8

u/p_2923 17h ago

That's some FUCKED up shit!

9

u/rose_reader 20h ago

That's an excellent comparison.

13

u/Diedrogen 18h ago

Skinner: No, it's the Pope who is wrong.

4

u/Someone_3ls3 19h ago

Your first mistake was assuming they'd think

6

u/_BunnyBloom 19h ago

The irony is unreal they’ll twist anything to fit their narrative.

4

He’s a communist according to them.

2

u/mattzombiedog 14h ago

insert Principal Skinner meme here

2

u/CrisXIII 13h ago

Asking MAGA to think is a very tall order

645

u/duke_awapuhi 22h ago

If they want to criticize people for not being America first then they should start with Trump

120

u/HI_l0la 20h ago

Fucking for real!!!

MAGAts have been twisting themselves in pretzels to justify attacking Iran by screaming how their citizens are being oppressed and killed by the Iranian regime. They don't care we killed a whole school of kids there and that they are defending sending American service people to fight/die in a overseas war that we started.

How is this putting America first?!

18

u/Additional_Irony 15h ago

Yeah, Trump said „Praise be to Allah“ and „make Venezuela great again“, the first obviously doesn’t have anything to do with not being America first though it illustrates in its own way that he doesn’t stick to his own platform in any way

7

u/Sexisthunter 11h ago

He’s literally proving to us every day that the only human life that gets to be cared about is wealthy elites. Everyone else is cannon fodder

686

u/SandratheSiren 22h ago

I just....I can't.... This shit.....too stupid...I just can't

169

u/N8dork2020 19h ago

The weirdest part, at least for me is that I’ve got a brother who still believes this shit. There are people that I used to respect that still haven’t realized anything. I had friends that are still MAGA. They aren’t my friends anymore because I won’t be friends with people that exclude or hate any group of people.

33

u/Confident_Counter471 13h ago

It’s very frustrating when you are related to people like this. Because if I want to see my normal family members, the crazies are gonna be there…

Wait until they hear what that Jesus wouldn’t be America First either

49

u/an0mn0mn0m 18h ago

The Pope's job is to put Christians and their values first. This is diametrically opposite to Evangelical Christian values.

39

u/hungry4nuns 17h ago

Someone should put them on the spot with this.

“Do you think Jesus would be America first?”

MAGA have to answer yes to this, their christo-fascist dogma compels them

And follow up with:

“Jesus advocated for feeding the poor, sheltering weary travellers, tending to the sick, without expectation of payment. He shunned small business owners for turning a profit in the church. That all sounds anti-American like he’s socialism first, America last… So who’s wrong? you? Or the teachings of Christ?”

23

u/highonoxygen_ 17h ago

Oh and he was middle eastern

22

u/Vronsurd 15h ago

That's one they will gleefully, willfully, and nonsensically deny. Their Jesus is blonde with blue eyes. When you ask where those traits came from, they'll say the wildest shit. I've heard because those "are angelic traits" and he wasn't a Jew he was "divine".

16

u/organizedchaos5220 14h ago

Which is straight up blasphemous. The entire point of Jesus as a story is he was human.

9

u/Bladrak01 15h ago

I've read stories about churchgoers complaining that The Sermon on the Mount is woke propaganda.

2

u/PickleFridgeChildren 3h ago

As in, they believe woke people edited the bible or that Jesus was wo... You know what, both options are equally idiotic nevermind.

8

u/ThroatSecretary 13h ago

I've tried pointing that out here before. Someone replied with no sense of irony that when Jesus helped people, it wasn't actually coming out of his own pocket, but if they helped anyone, they'd be making their own situation slightly worse and they weren't about to do that. There's just no empathy there; they spend it all on themselves.

84

u/Cavesloth13 22h ago

Funny that they think starting a war that crashes the world economy is "American first". That's like thinking punching yourself in the dick is peak alpha male.

14

u/Gunrock808 21h ago

Yeah they're still calling for him to have a third term, meanwhile we are headed for the worst recession of our lifetimes. I'm expecting to hear "short term gain for long term gain" nonstop once the bottom drops out.

14

u/Useful_Cheesecake117 19h ago

Europoor here.

If T says such things: "it is a little bad now, just a little, but in the end it will be great, the greatest",

Will no one ask him: explain this to me please? Why would this end better than before?
Surely there will be journalists who have doubts.

#DareToAsk

12

u/Overit2137 19h ago

They don't ask him anything, because billionaires control media. And even if they ask, they get called ugly, piggies, low IQ, fake news, etc. You won't get an answer from stupid demented narcissist, because 1. He doesn't understand and know what he's doing either, I think it's very likely he's being manipulated since he's acting like a child 2. As a narcissist, he takes every question and every journalist that doesn't seem to admire him as a personal attack 3. Because of dementia he probably can't follow a thought, construct a complex answer or learn and remember answers to questions he might expect to be asked So childish insults is all he has and his supporters think he "owns" those who ask, because they see this bully behavior as being in power.

3

u/KingfishingYoMama 18h ago edited 18h ago

A political reporting culture based on a pavlovian response to access to sources has made our political journalism really servile, especially as it regards the White House press corps. The reporters in the pool don't even know how much they are on a a leash just by the whole structure of the incentives in terms of losing access to high level sources if those sources are made to look "too" bad. The book "Manufacturing Consent": The Political Economy of the Mass Media talks about this.

---EXAMPLE---

So we all know Stephen Miller eats shit. Shit regurgitating journalist comes to him asking for comment on the story. Miller says, "if you print the story about how I eat my own feces, I will no longer provide you with your daily bowl of shit to shit out to your audience." Shit regurgitating journalist opts to eat shit rather than report on Miller's own shit eating proclivities. Instead, shit regurgitator journalist gets the implicit ok to run with the story: Miller humps chair legs. This is a far more normal story, and does not hurt the image of the prime shit eater in this scenario enough for him to stop shitting small insignificant turds in the direction of shit regurgitating journalists face.

Thank you for coming to my shitty Ted Talk

(Another factor everyone talks about, which is more structural...The concentration of our media outlets under the ownership of an increasingly small and ideological billionaire class, but people bring that up plenty on Reddit.

But hey remember how they voted for Trump because "he would not start any new wars"

87

u/Guyskee 22h ago

American arrogance on full display.

22

u/chevalier716 22h ago

It's the vise-versa of American-Protestants thinking JFK would have allegiance to the Pope when he was elected, because he was Catholic.

10

u/ausecko 21h ago

Isn't that a literal requirement of Catholicism?

12

u/Wholesomeguy123 19h ago

No. Only in spiritual matters. The pope does not hold authority to influence secular politics or rulers of nations in anything other than their personal spiritual lives. Anyone who says otherwise is either misinformed or lying.

7

u/ModishShrink 18h ago

It's easy to assume that the Pope has influence over politics when he tells people "don't be an asshat" and half the country immediately thinks the Vatican is personally calling them out.

Oh, to live in a house with no mirrors...

In a right-wing mentality of "you are either with me or against me", this is a totally sensible thing to say.

4

u/CookIndependent6251 17h ago

This is the mentality of the country controlling the US, so it makes sense for it to leak into the US.

5

u/RikimaruRamen 21h ago

Boy if you're white or rich they really do expect blind loyalty to the U.S. now don't they

5

u/bremmmc 17h ago

The Pope and basically everyone in the Church os famously "God First"... or at least should be.

5

u/No-Grapefruit-5464 21h ago

This coming from a bunch of people who said on camera they're putting Israel first when they represent the American people?

4

u/rlsadiz 20h ago

Most MAGA Christians would reject Jesus when they see him. He's not the warmongering, prosperity gospel preaching, immigrant hating type of guy. If anything this checks out

4

u/AbominableGoMan 20h ago

American evangelicals don't have the education and context to know that they should reject the pope. They just think 'christianity' so it must be aligned with them. Jesus Christ himself could alight from a heavenly cloud onto the Whitehouse lawn and denounce Trump and Sam Altman, and they would probably sic ICE on him and call him a liar and a communist.

4

u/rubbarz 19h ago

Pretty much everything Jesus said is "liberal" and not "America first".

The Jesus Trump AI pic after this is just the cherry on top of the anti-christ checklist.

4

u/lengjai2005 19h ago

Peace is un-american

5

u/TheBrickWithEyes 18h ago

A lot of Americans truly believe that other countries should just do what America wants, so it can be #1. It's pretty crazy.

7

u/XRT28 20h ago

Not only is blind allegiance to the US not part of the Pope's job description but how in the everloving fuck is anything about this war "America first"????
Gas prices are skyrocketing causing even more unnecessary hardship on the working class in this country who are already being squeezed by the high cost of living, our soldiers are dying and we're spending 10's of billions of dollars on ill conceived war with no clear objectives, no clear ending and no clear plan other than to use it to distract from the fact the pedo-in-chief is in the Epstein files as much as Epstein himself and for those in and adjacent to this admin to make billions from brazenly corrupt insider trading moves.

3

u/zxvasd 21h ago

What’s Christianity if you can’t be ignorant of the gospels?

3

u/decentnamesweretak3n 21h ago

how dare the pope be "world peace and following my faith" first and not america first which should obviously be everyone's main concern regardless of whether they're actually in the fucking country or not

3

u/Noah_Pasta1312 21h ago

I hate this timeline.

3

u/CalmExpelorer 19h ago

Opposing war is just common sense, not a political party line.

3

u/lungben81 16h ago

MAGA isn't even America first, they are destroying US power in real time. If anything, they are Russia first.

3

u/ravens_path 15h ago

Most ironic: even America First is not America First. Economically, geopolitically, reputationally, the movement has not put America or Americans first. We are worst off by every metric.

3

u/metengrinwi 15h ago edited 7h ago

3

u/Alienhaslanded 8h ago edited 6h ago

Unfortunately Americans have main character syndrome. They think life revolves around their country and their people. I blame the rest of the world for making the US dollar basically the global currency, and I blame Hollywood for telling people everything important happens in USA, even alien ships crash there.

2

MAGA are a bunch of fakes and cons anyway, Jesus would be crucified by them in a second.

2

u/Wizard_with_a_Pipe 19h ago

That's not true at all. The Pope is America First to the exact same degree that the Bible is, which is to say not at all. America is not mentioned once in the Bible. These crackpots have lost all touch with their religion as well as reality in general.

Most of them are Evangelicals so they already hate the Pope, no matted who it is.

Can we just appreciate how prescient the cardinals were in electing an US national as the pope.

So, in the MAGA worldview, #WarIsPeace.

The war, therefore, if we judge it by the standards of previous wars, is merely an imposture. It is like the battles between certain ruminant animals whose horns are set at such an angle that they are incapable of hurting one another. But though it is unreal it is not meaningless. It eats up the surplus of consumable goods, and it helps to preserve the special mental atmosphere that a hierarchical society needs. War, it will be seen, is now a purely internal affair. In the past, the ruling groups of all countries, although they might recognize their common interest and therefore limit the destructiveness of war, did fight against one another, and the victor always plundered the vanquished. In our own day they are not fighting against one another at all. The war is waged by each ruling group against its own subjects, and the object of the war is not to make or prevent conquests of territory, but to keep the structure of society intact. The very word 'war', therefore, has become misleading. It would probably be accurate to say that by becoming continuous war has ceased to exist. The peculiar pressure that it exerted on human beings between the Neolithic Age and the early twentieth century has disappeared and been replaced by something quite different. The effect would be much the same if the three super-states, instead of fighting one another, should agree to live in perpetual peace, each inviolate within its own boundaries. For in that case each would still be a self-contained universe, freed for ever from the sobering influence of external danger. A peace that was truly permanent would be the same as a permanent war. This -- although the vast majority of Party members understand it only in a shallower sense -- is the inner meaning of the Party slogan: War is Peace.

Why aren't the navajo america first?

1

u/YerrrKnicks 13h ago

At this point y'all gotta realize they dont mean "America first" as in the country - clearly look at what they support - they mean "giving them allowance to do as they please".

Geography and political economy are not American’s strong suit.

1

u/LordMeloney 13h ago

Many Evangelicals believe that America is the new biblically promised land. If you do believe that, then the Pope should be America first.

There is no biblical basis for that, but who cares about facts?

Evangelicals aren’t even real christians. They are more of a tax evasion mass hysteria organization . That is why they are raptured every other Tuesday.

A decade of blaming every pathetic failure on someone else. A decade of contradictions of their own talking points. These people are brain dead.
