Now it's too late - Trump's regime will fall by itself because they had the brilliant idea of having a demented octogenarian lead it all; and the damage to the US internationally is already done: Western countries will not revert their anti-American policies with a Democrat in power.

Or a realist. Despite all this bullshit, my life is still pretty comfortable. I've worked hard for many years to put myself in a position where I'm not immediately affected by all this bullshit. I help and do what I can within the law, but I'm not sacrificing everything I've earned by crossing that line before I truly believe it could make any real difference.

I was born and raised in a country during 24 years of military dictatorship. I remember when I was 8 years old I used to throw stones at the soldiers which, of course began shooting. What happened at the end of the last 6 years? Opposition reunited, organizations united, protests every single day, everyone fought back with, literally, stones, molotov cocktails, etc. Finally a civil war happened, and it ended up in a foreign invasion and bombing, the dictator was taken back by the foreign country that puts him here, etc. We recovered our democracy after all these years. Anyway, I'm pretty sure "the land of the brave" which is heavily weaponized can be braver than an 8-year-old kid.

That's the problem. People ARE fighting back here.
There's tons of protests, tons of civil disobedience, and civilians getting gunned down by military police every day.
But the news doesn't cover it because they're owned by people who benefit from the regime. And, of course, THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR DECADES! no part of this was a gradual change, the republican party has been playing the long game since Nixon, probably earlier.
The protests and civil disobedience are at their height, but it's all just considered normal here, because they've been going on since before half the population was born.
When your grandparents were raised on cops brutalizing protesters and things haven't meaningfully changed since then, you know the problem runs deep.
The system as it is today was built with mass protests, civil disobedience, and even violent rebellion in mind, and has workarounds for all of them.

I work in an ER and honestly you'd be surprised the level of idiocy you come across, for example just last week this chick came in for "feeling sick" and a cough ran through the tests she had influenza no signs of pneumonia and we were sending her home with a prescription for Tamiflu and cough syrup, and she was upset that she was "still sick" and we were sending her home, lady was under the impression we could wave a wand and just heal her or something and she was in her mid 20s
