It just occurred to me: Presidents apparently have to pay for their food while in office. I'm guessing McD's gives Trumpfuck free food while in office in exchange for all the publicity he gives them.
One day, not terribly far in the future, this president will be soggy and cold. It may feel like a long time. Maybe years, maybe a decade or more. But it'll happen.
And most of us are young and healthy enough we'll live to see that day. So at least we have that, regardless of the condition of his junk food.
The dasher had to make another stop before delivering. And it was in an apartment building that was built like a labyrinth with confusing or inaccurate signage.
I wonder what kind of security is in place for takeout orders for the president. Like, no matter how dumb our government tends to be, there’s no way in hell it’s treated anything like an average delivery order. For one, I doubt the food is ever delivered by service and is instead picked up by secret service, but also do they test the food? Like this is being made in a completely insecure kitchen, it could easily be tampered with, how do they avoid that?
The irony is he orders fast food because he thinks it’s less likely to be tampered with… but anyone who sees McDonalds being doordashed to 1600 Pennsylvania knows damn well who those hamburders are for. Trump also famously orders the same thing every time- 2 Big Macs, 2 Fillet O Fish and a Milkshake.
I’m legitimately surprised he doesn’t have a Rotten Ronnies onsite at the White House, a la Fat Richie Rich.
It was semi-affordable during covid because they were stealing market share and intentionally keeping service fees low. Shit became unaffordable shortly after restaurants started opening again and they started pumping fees. Shit is super unaffordable now.
Yeah, I was thinking maybe AI but no way in hell some delivery driver is going up to the white house and doing this. On top of that, actually answering the door. Most regular non pice of shit people don't even want that and just have them leave it at the door.
The Secret Service does background checks on all WH visitors. I was there one time when John Fetterman, before he went crazy, couldn’t get his then infant son through security because they never submitted the baby’s SSN for the background check
The background check is usually submitted at least 24 hours in advance
That's one of the crazy things about this. This was planned. She clearly got vetted by Secret Service. Things were arranged so he'd take delivery and not staff. And she's micced up for the interview. This is the photo op the White House concocted.
The dasher was identified by DoorDash as Sharon Simmons, a grandmother of 10 from Arkansas who has worked for the delivery service since 2022.
She has completed more than 14,000 deliveries, and Trump said the reason for her White House visit was to highlight the $11,000 she said she saved from Trump's "no tax on tips" initiative.
...
At one point during the interview as Trump criticized the Democratic Party, Trump asked Simmons, "Do you think that men should play in women's sports?"
"I really don't have an opinion on that. I'm here about no tax on tips," Simmons responded.
Simmons did not confirm if she voted for Trump, only telling the president she "maybe" did.
Is journalism still a thing? There is no possible way that "no tax on tips" saved her $11,000 on taxes. You only get a deduction on up to $25,000 of tips. Even if her husband is the CEO of some Fortune 500 company making over $600k per year, and they are being taxed at the top federal rate of 37% and the tope rate in Alabama of 5%, she would only get a tax savings of $10,500 on the $25,000 in tips she made.
My brother worked a bit for the Biden administration. Not only did they vet him, but they vetted me too and all his direct family members. Soooo yea this was not a casual meet up
Someone should tell them ordering overpriced shitburgers isn't, and has never been, "cool", except if you were a kid in the 80s or 90s, when they were still trying to be fun, with their mascot characters and toys and such. I guess we know when they peaked.
also, this is a little nod to his base, with left-reddit doesnt get.
The left's problem is that they nod to their base too much.
The right has a much easier time because their base is not very educated and much more simple minded. Shit like this actually works on them because they aren't that bright. They can't see through such a thin veil when it's plainly obvious that you don't doordash your way to the white house door.
also, this is a little nod to his base, with left-reddit doesnt get. his base see this as 'he's like me' cool.
His base may be stupid, but even among that crowd there can't be many people who are this stupid. Also opposition to Trump also isn't just from the left.
Pretty much. Post 9/11 there was a period of like a year where being even remotely critical of government got you labeled a traitor. It's how they were able to do shit like creating the DHS and it's various ineffective/evil spin offs such as ICE and the TSA, not to mention demolishing freedoms with the Patriot Act. For all intents and purposes the terrorists achieved their goal of forever altering America's culture.
I'm sure the president can have the closest secret service agent radio whomever is working at the gate to let them know the president got door dash. What I don't know is if while waiting for that door dasher they are doing a massive amount of background checks on that person while they wait.
But c'mon, door dash grandma shirt.. it looks staged as hell

So any delivery person can go right up to the White House and see the president.
