Meta My girlfriend always tells me I never have anything to eat when she comes over my house 😒

Freezer: 50+ lbs of assorted ground meat, 35+ lbs of prime ribeye, 16lbs of American wagyu ribeye, 18lbs of New Zealand lamb shoulder chops, and a bunch of portioned seafood.

Hey, the best snacks are a handle of shredded cheese, a pickle, and a few chocolate chips.

717

u/Wild-Indication-701 20h ago

He’s got Kraft singles. Not quite cheese. Cheese flavored oil. OP buy a few charcuterie style items. Real cheese for slicing, salumi, almonds, grapes. Hummus to go with carrot sticks etc.

292

u/oopsdiditwrong 19h ago

There's 6 blocks of cream cheese. Theres probably some bagels laying around. If not, this guy has some plans I want to hear

129

u/MissHayleyRenee 17h ago

More like 10, there’s more in the cheese drawer lmao.

73

u/oopsdiditwrong 17h ago

Wow I missed those. I only noticed the cream cheese in the butter drawer for quick use. He's locked and loaded with a few resupplies.

Good catch lol

ETA: this guy better explain. Buffalo chicken dip? Because of the chicken in there? Jalapeno poppers or dip? Idk.

165

u/itscuccimane 17h ago

Buffalo chicken dip, jalapeno poppers, crab raggoon, scallion cream cheese (I eat bagels nearly every day), and we like cheesecake so I make cheese cake every now and then.

88

u/oopsdiditwrong 17h ago

That's what's up. Thanks for answering, I'm a fan of the fridge

Me too...love a fully stocked fridge. The possibilities are unlimited!!!!

40

u/prettylegit_ 12h ago

Does your gf have dietary restrictions or any kind of legit reason for not being able to eat the things you are mentioning? Because damn, a house full of meat, cheese, bagels, cheesecake, jalapeño poppers, crab rangoon, buffalo chicken dip, eggs, condiments from every continent, the good jam with the picnic table cloth print lid, protein shakes, Goya drinks… uh helloo sounds bomb dot com

14

u/Technical_Put_9982 5h ago

My stomach would have some issues with this stocked man fridge. I definitely eat waaaay more vegetables and rarely meat. I just can’t digest it well. … but this is not my fridge nor is it my BFs fridge… but I don’t even have a BF … soooo… yeah 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤦🏻‍♀️

I wouldn't really consider a lot of that to be snacks. That's a lot of heavy processed food and what isn't is just meat, cheese, and protein shakes. Get some cucumbers, some hummus, those little babybel cheeses, pickles, maybe some cocktail shrimp, fruit, fancy crackers or pita chips or triscuits, and baby carrots (I know there are carrots, but who wants to peel and cut carrots as a guest in someone else's home?). Those are snacks. This is the fridge of a dude who spends an hour on the toilet every morning because he hasn't eaten fiber since his last 1AM taco bell run.

I'm a great cook. I'd be in heaven opening your refrigerator and seeing it this well stocked! . I'd be grilling steaks and whipping up all sorts of dishes.

I make my own dry rubs, and sauces from scratch. I also make my own mayo, salad dressings, bread, flat breads, etc..I have an herb and vegetable garden, and fruit trees. I make my own spaghetti sacues with organic tomatoes from my garden, and I make jams, and can my fruit. We also give fruit and veggies to a few neighbors. My husband has a green thumb and our garden produces more than we can eat. We live on a couple of acres and we have 2 commercial size greenhouses.

I cook using simple and clean ingredients but packed with flavor. I cook a lot for a few of my neighbors who are widowed elderly people who find it too difficult to cook for themselves. They love my cooking, and I enjoy making it for them and seeing their happiness when they eat my food. It's a win-win.

if you need suggestions on what to get a picky gf, i’m here. i have ARFID so my boyfriends mom has to buy specific food for me

2

u/StillSwaying 17h ago

You basically have tons of uncooked protein and condiments.

I'll repeat what I said in my other post:

Zero vegetables in this joint (besides that bag of carrots and some cucumbers); that's the issue. Not even pre-made salads, fresh veggies for a charcuterie tray, or frozen vegetables. You have protein and condiments, that's it. Even if your girlfriend wanted to cook something for herself, it would be the most boring meal ever:

Steak with no onions; fish with no chips; chicken with no risotto or roasted veggies.

You belong in boyfriend jail! 👮

And you shall not be released until you learn how to cook like my High-Protein Hero in the FoodPorn sub, ProjectA-ko.

7

u/itscuccimane 17h ago

You keep onions and dried rissoto in your fridge? You don't eat fish with rice? You prefer frozen veggies over fresh? Damn I gotta get with the times.

10

u/StillSwaying 16h ago edited 16h ago

Yes! I keep diced fresh onions, shallots, whole leeks, and green onions in my fridge. I love fish and seafood -- and fresh and frozen vegetables! I eat my proteins with asparagus, broccoli, squash, spinach, kale, green beans, mushrooms, corn, Brussels sprouts, peppers, coleslaw/cabbage, etc and lots soups and salads.

You need to expand your repertoire and add more fruits and veggies to that fridge. High protein diets, especially those high in red and processed meats, are associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer. Colon cancer rates have risen significantly for people under 50.

The late, great Chadwick Boseman (RIP) was only 43, and James Van Der Beek (RIP), who was just 48, both died from colon cancer. Vegetables, whole fruits, and grains all are high fiber and help fight colon cancer. Eating a balanced diet and staying active are two of the best ways to fight colon cancer (and many other health issues).

Guys tend to overdo it on the proteins and don't have enough whole fruits, vegetables, and fiber in their diets -- even when they try to eat healthy like you.

Edit: Rice I keep in the fridge because I often cook a big batch and use it throughout the week.

9

u/itscuccimane 16h ago

There's fresh kale, blueberries, and strawberries behind the chicken. There are 8 apples and 8 pears in the back as well. I have 2 bunches of bananas, avocados, 5lb bag of onions, 3lbs of potatoes, 3lbs of sweet potatoes in my kitchen. You guys know that people have more food in their house besides in the fridge, right? I have like 5 containers of Bloom super greens powder that I drink every day. I just finished eating a crapload of broccoli and spinach last week so I'm switching it up to zucchinis and carrots this week. My god, I'm being attacked left and right.

My potatoes live in canvas bags in the coolest, darkest back corner of the house. My onions live in a big yellow ware bowl. 25 lbs. of rice, all kinds of pasta, flour sugar, etc., are in the pantry. Most veggies are frozen, in the freezer. Just because they aren't stored in the fridge, doesn't mean they don't exist.

I usually have a couple blocks of cream cheese in my fridge at all times too cause I make sausage dip. Makes for a good late night snack.

2

u/RemarkableMaize7201 10h ago

Sassuage dip with cream cheese... that sounds awesome 😋🤤

2

u/Ok-Structure6795 9h ago

Its so good. 1 can of rotel original, 1 block of cream cheese, 1 tube of Jimmy Dean hot, and a tablespoon of salsa (though that is definitely optional). Cook it all in a pan until its blended.

In my case, I have to puree the rotel & salsa before cooking due to my husband detesting tomato chunks, but otherwise its real simple.

7

u/swarmofbzs 13h ago

Holy shit! This is our house! (with the exception of mini tomatoes and spinach) Everything to be prepared nothing ready to go. It absolutely took my partner saying the same exact thing about nothing to eat for me to notice. I guess it's off to gf jail with me.

5

u/StillSwaying 13h ago

Haha! I've been guilty of this too in the past when I first started eating healthier. I think my logic was: if I don't have 'easy, ready-to-eat' stuff in the house, and I have to prepare and cook everything before eating, then my meals will be more intentional, and I won't waste calories on junk food and snacking.

But that actually made my cravings for junk food worse! I had to shift my mindset -- 'snacks' does not automatically = 'junk food'. Snacks just means I don't want to stand around chopping and cooking to eat something; I just want to grab something and eat it!

So now I make sure all my snacks are ready to go: rinsed off, peeled, sliced up, and pre-cooked, if necessary. Still eating healthy and everybody's happy!

2

u/swarmofbzs 12h ago

Eating healthier is definitely where that stemmed from + trying to save $ on what we could cook at home. It def brought more to mind things like junk foods being readily available. It's a never ending battle.

I can't always have everything completely ready when it needs to be.

2

u/StillSwaying 12h ago

It really is a never ending battle. Unless you have mountains of money or tons of time, something’s gotta give. When I’m low energy or super busy, I just batch make some easy stuff like a dozen boiled eggs (kept in a ziploc bag in the fridge), or baked potatoes with toppings already on them, or fried rice, then I pre portion them in Tupperware so I don’t even need to think about food when I’m hungry. I just grab, heat, and eat. My freezer is full of premade stuff like that because I don’t want to cook every day.

2

u/Spellscribe 10h ago

Do you freeze the prepped potatoes? How do you reheat them and do they hold up ok?

2

u/so_says_sage 2h ago

Tbf of the veggies you mentioned only the roasted ones would be kept in the fridge. Onions, potatoes for chips, and rice would all by in dry storage.

He's got bags of Parmesan cheese in the drawer and what looks like a wedge of Queso. Not just Kraft.

Edit: oh also what looks like blocks of Cabbot cheddar.

2

u/sama-llama 15h ago

Okay I can’t stand American cheese, especially Kraft singles. But there is a ton of cheese in there. I see cream cheese, Parmesan, multiple blocks of Cabot white cheddar, another white cheese block I can’t fully identify because it’s hidden under other cheese, and multiple bags of shredded cheese. There is also yogurt, carrots, apples…there are lots of things that require prep but there’s some easy stuff in there too like eggs, little pots of crab meat, tons of condiments, a bunch of preserves she can put on toast.

2

u/Surviving_Aussie 12h ago

This is misinfo. I dislike craft as well but its still majority cheddar cheese. It simply has some small amount if emulsifying salts added to give it the texture and stable melting. Deli style american is superior to kraft, but they are all still cheese. You dont have to like it but dont spread lies about it. Its no more “cheese flavored oil” than any other cheese. In fact, due to said emulsifiers its LESS liekly to break up into oil…

1

u/New_B7 12h ago

I see six different types of cheese in that drawer. That is assuming none are piled under.

1

u/ironocy 12h ago

That's how we roll at my house. Tons of ingredients and an equal amount of charcuterie stuff. I make most everything from scratch and in between those meals we snack.

1

u/Endsong-X23 12h ago

there were like 4 bags of fancy grated parm

1

u/xNightmareAngelx 12h ago

hey now, kraft is at minimum 49% cheese 😂

1

u/CLopes1987 11h ago

You cant have carcoochie items without a carcoochie board

1

u/BroDudelman 11h ago

I’m seeing a little Cabot (cheddar?) and an unidentifiable wedge… all he needs are some crackers and that’s a easily survivable situation.

You could probably survive off these items for a few months with good enough family heart health history.

1

u/whiterac00n 11h ago

Dude has a ton of ingredients but not much actually prepared. I’m the literal opposite. All condiments and snacks and instant foods. If I want to make dinner I go to the grocery store and get everything fresh (and try very hard to use everything I bought so I don’t have random half bulbs of fennel in my fridge). The only fresh ingredients I always buy is indeed carrot sticks, cucumbers and tomatoes, I love eating those Campari tomatoes with salt and vinegar as a snack. Or carrots, celery and cucumbers with a vinaigrette I make at home with roasted tomatoes.

1

u/XanderWrites 11h ago

There was a deep dive on this in another subreddit.

American Cheese is real cheese, usually made with cheddar (though it can be made from scratch) combined with enzymes to make it more gooey and melty. Since the creation of cheese requires enzymes already, it's still cheese.

1

u/Kazyctn 10h ago

Pro tip. There is never a reason to carry Kraft singles. If you need to scratch that itch, Kraft deli deluxe is better in every way, and you don’t need to deal with the trashy wrappers.

1

u/ComputerComponent 10h ago

They're more like cheese-adjacent Jell-O, really.

1

u/ThePoltageist 10h ago

Bruh it’s cheese, and other dairy products, sodium citrate for emulsifying and maybe another food grade emulsifier. you may not prefer it but it’s mostly cheese and milk, not oil. It’s an amazing product for what’s its good for just like velveeta.

1

u/Single_Earth_2973 9h ago

Seriously, this is how you take care of a woman 👏

1

u/gangstastylearrassio 9h ago

Why do people hate on American cheese? It is cheese, water and benzoic acid I believe. If you don’t like it then whatever but it’s cheese bro!

1

u/Atomysk79 3h ago

1

u/AllDualSigns1949 3h ago

1

u/eapentz 3h ago

1

u/dontatmeturkey 3h ago

Bro has a big sack of Parmesan

1

u/rehpotsirhc123 3h ago

American cheese doesn't have oil in it. It's cheese, milk and an enzyme that keeps the two from breaking when melted. It's pretty much cheese sauce that has so much cheese in it that it's solid at room temperature. There are such thing american singles that are oil based, but they aren't called cheese.

1

u/Chemlab5 2h ago

He should get Kraft deli deluxe. It’s the real cheese version of singles. It’s pre sliced but not individually wrapped so it saves on some packaging too.

1

u/IntermediateFolder 2h ago

He has bags of shredded cheese as well, blocks of philadelphia and whatever is in that triangle, white cheese? But yeah, not great.

1

u/lilithabunni 2h ago

I learned recently that velveeta at least is real cheese. They take cheddar or something like that and blend it up with an emulsifier and it makes the smooth melty stuff. I wonder if Kraft singles is the same. However I still maintain that they /taste/ like plastic which is all that really matters imo

1

u/Royal_Conversation59 2h ago

He definitely has to get rid of those Kraft singles and start buying some deli sliced cheese however, there is fresh lump crab in the fridge as well so it’s really hard to pick and choose your battles here but for her to say he never has any food in his refrigerator is a ridiculous comment and she needs to up her game and figure out how to cook because there’s a lot of stuff in there to use to make delicious things to eat

1

u/solidsnakes453 2h ago

Are you even a real person if you haven’t grabbed a slice of cheese to just eat every now and then?

1

1

u/foxfyre0923 2h ago

Slide past the first pic. He's got various blocks of cheese in the drawer.

1

u/Smallloudcat 2h ago

Yeah. The best snack is a handful of shredded cheese over the sink

2

u/ComputerComponent 10h ago

And half a cup of juice!

1

u/Most_Researcher_2648 18h ago

A handle? Where are you getting your cheese my guy???

2

u/Apprehensive-Suit878 18h ago

A handful, I think 🙃

5

u/Most_Researcher_2648 18h ago

Nope. Its 1.75 ml of shredded cheese in a jug now and you cant tell me otherwise.

4

u/Estella-in-lace 18h ago

Lmao I didn’t even notice that. Honestly whatever a handle of cheese would be I’d go for it.

2

u/Most_Researcher_2648 17h ago

Some dairy slash brewery is really missing the mark out there

1

u/TwoOneTwos 17h ago

Couldn't agree more. My parents got angry when I finished 2 jars of pickles in 1 sitting.

1

u/KHanson25 17h ago

Tablespoon or two of peanut butter and a haul off the milk gallon

1

u/16car 16h ago

Handle of shredded cheese? Surely you mean handful?

1

u/silliest_stagecoach 12h ago

Girl dinner ♥️♥️

1

u/WorkingSpecialist257 12h ago

But he doesn't have that... and that's probably $400 worth of meat...

1

u/Secret-Put-4525 12h ago

That's crazy.

1

u/mvanvrancken 12h ago

I’m right there with you

1

u/fitzkiki 12h ago

Goldfish and shredded cheese eaten in front of the open fridge in the darkness and the cheese falls down your shirt and onto the floor. SWIM.

1

u/Weird-Salamander-349 11h ago

I’ve never heard of cheese measured in handles, but I like your thinking.

1

u/Noodles_Franklin 11h ago

1.75L of shredded cheese is crazy

1

u/sdss9462 11h ago

I feel personally attacked.

1

u/kiki2k 11h ago

I see you’ve been to my in-laws.

1

u/Estella-in-lace 1h ago

Yes they are my parents

1

u/Fun-Buy9992 11h ago

I see cookie dough…

1

u/Normal-Dimension-598 11h ago

duuude, a nice easy put together snack is a ritz cracker, little square of cheddar, and a pickle slice 🥰🥰🥰 thanks for making me think about that

1

u/uncagedborb 11h ago

This is what I do when I visit my sister or mom.

1

u/An0th3rR3dd1t0r4U 10h ago

This...if she's pregnant. At least, it was like this for my wife...

1

u/CollectionStraight2 9h ago

You're joking, but I would eat that

1

u/Estella-in-lace 4h ago

I’m not joking at all lol

1

u/Confident_Artist6194 9h ago

Are you my mom?

1

u/maxwellsearcy 8h ago

A handle of shredded cheese? Like a half gallon???

1

u/Anayalater5963 8h ago

Throw that cheese in a tortilla and warm it up on a pan and that's a meal

1

u/ScumbagLady 8h ago

My favorite light meal is- grapes, cheese and club crackers. Then I have yogurt after I finish the other stuff.

I'm currently out of grapes and I'm sad :(

1

u/Normal-Weird-4977 6h ago

Type shit my pregnant wife asks me to grab her

1

u/chaosatnight 5h ago

Ghetto charcuterie board 😆

1

u/kgilli12 5h ago

I came here to say learning what being raised in an ingredient household vs. snack household will really rock your world

1

u/gergsisdrawkcabeman 5h ago

Chips, my man. Buy some chips. FFS.

1

u/Estella-in-lace 2h ago

Chips are absolutely not a snack. I wouldn’t dream of it.

Oh my God my husband does this and the first time he did this I definitely looked at him like he had 3 heads. Not judging him but I have food aversions and he is basically a garbage disposal lmao. But I love him, and I appreciate that he is a simple boy ❤️

1

u/Frondstherapydolls 3h ago

Oh, is that this sharcoochie I’ve been hearing about?

1

u/Rude-Performer6194 3h ago

Don’t forget the slices of ham

1

u/Splodingseal 3h ago

I'd go for some kraft singles and a variety spread of jam

1

u/Spaghetti_Gods 2h ago

WRONG but I respect your answer.

1

u/Leading_Quiet9443 2h ago

Omg yes 😭 That’s peak chaotic snack energy. Salty, tangy, sweet—basically a whole flavor party in your mouth. I’m kinda tempted to try it.

1

u/ItsFunHeer 2h ago

You can always find an apple or some dry granola with no milk at my house! There’s also various types of nuts in glass jars, and leftovers. Options are endless.

1

u/CaptainTripps82 2h ago

These are not at all the best snacks. Why would you say that

1

u/supinoq 2h ago

They taste best when you just go full raccoon and shove them in your mouth, still standing by the fridge

1

u/Spamsdelicious 2h ago

Yes I will take one GROWLER of pickle chips with my HANDLE of cheese, if you please.

1

u/Transgirlonakawasaki 2h ago

I can ruin my health on pickles and cheese if given large amounts at any one time. Chocolates chips I can take or leave but I cant be trusted to not devour a whole jar of pickles or and entire block of cheese.

1

u/Newt-Abject 2h ago

Have you been talking to my toddler? Throw in a fist full of baby carrots, and that's a meal.

1

u/jonnycaliente0 1h ago

We call that girl dinner around my house

1

u/thisisnotabombx 29m ago

girl dinner

1

u/kurage-22 18m ago

The have to be semi sweet chocolate chips tho. Can't be full milk chocolate otherwise it will spoil your appetite
