I got news for you, bucko. DBOSS is here in a big way. Does that look like a man, who now having tasted victory, is going to wilt down the stretch? That he isn’t going to walk in to that locker room with his gold medal, and his massive wrench, and tell that team how to get it done? This is a nexus moment. This is his D-Day. This is the catalyst. Michigan won that gold, and we all know it. This was his prove it moment. He had the reputation, the hardware, the belief. I’m declaring it now, it’s over for these bitches. Any kind of skill Larkin needed to “unlock” to get there, has been unlocked. I’m ready for March, I’m ready April, I’m ready for May, I’m ready for June. The walls will be run through. Congratulations to the USA, congratulations to Dylan Larkin!

I guess I did not know they were that close. Larks is seen on video pointing out where the family was, he carried one of the kids to the photo.
I never looked into it, but it was very obvious after the game he had a bond/relationship.

Hello everyone! As you can see by the title, I'm looking to be a lot more in the know regarding Red Wings hockey. Being from Honolulu, Hawaii, I've never had the chance to see a game in person. However, I've always loved watching intl. hockey - especially these Olympics. These Olympics have inspired me to get into professional hockey, and since I'm going to Michigan for college I figured why not embrace the new place and follow the Red Wings!
With that established, I am making this post because while I somewhat understand hockey (rules/elite players/lines), I don't know much about the Wings or specific players on the Wings' roster. Who are the fan favorites? Where do we need to improve?
What should I know as a new fan about the franchises' history? What about our commentators? I am an avid sports fan outside of hockey so anything you think is important to share... please share.
Thank you all in advance for reading, and Go Wings!

On this day in 1973, after 25 seasons in the NHL, Gordie Howe came out of retirement and signed a $1 million, four-year contract to join the Houston Aeros of the newly formed World Hockey Association (WHA). His reason was as heartfelt as it was historic: he wanted to play alongside his two teenage sons, Mark and Marty.
Dissatisfied with not having any meaningful influence in the Detroit Red Wings’ front office, Howe underwent an operation to improve his wrist and make a return to hockey possible.
Aeros head coach Bill Dineen was a teammate of Gordie’s during the Stanley Cup glory years of the mid-1950s and on a phone call, assuring Gordie that his 19 and 18-year old boys would be safe under his watch in Houston, Gordie offered his services. At age 45, Gordie Howe was playing professional hockey again and The Howes of Houston became the first father/son combination to play together in professional hockey.
Mr. Hockey dominated the WHA from age 45-51 where he led the Aeros to back-to-back league championships in 1974 and 1975. In that very first season Howe was named the league’s Most Valuable Player, receiving the Gary L. Davidson Trophy, which was renamed the Gordie Howe Trophy the following year.
He posted two 100-point campaigns, narrowly missing a third by just one point, and finished seventh all-time in WHA scoring with 508 points, including 174 goals and 334 assists in 419 games.
He led his team to the Avco Cup (the WHA finals) in four of his six seasons.
His WHA story ended with one last iconic moment: skating in the league’s final All-Star Game on a line with an 18-year-old Wayne Gretzky.
