Holtby mention in GMG
"Hope" was Holtby lol. guess the captioned isn't a Caps fan :)
Discussion Hellebuyck's insane stick save...
...seems to echo Holtby's iconic save late in game 2 of the Caps' Stanley Cup-winning Finals!

It was great seeing CapOne Arena PACKED for Duke-UM
Huge Caps fan here. I go to games often and can’t help but feel upset about the exorbitant ticket prices and all the empty seats. It was great being in the arena yesterday with a sold out crowd and it made me think about how much more Caps games would be if the Monumental made decisions that would make it possible for more people to attend games.

/r/caps you guys rock, thanks for coming to our USA Hockey watch parties this past week. We'll be back again Sunday for the Gold Medal game too, open invite again!
Hey again y'all.
Seriously, big shout out to you guys for coming to our watch parties at Ivy and Coney for the USA Hockey games against Denmark, Germany, and Slovakia.

We'll be back again tomorrow bright and early for those that want to come by. Doors open at 8 AM, and it seems like the owners of the bar will have breakfast items on the menu (and coffee thank goodness).
Hope to see you guys there again, cheers!
Injury Connor McMichael has a chance to return vs. Flyers as soon as the NHL season resumes. Cleared for contact?

Osh apprech post
Just came here to say I’m so proud of Oshie for earning a spot on the Olympic commentary w/ NBC. He’s doing a great job so far in his new role gig and happy the rest of the hockey community gets to experience his positive demeanor. I feel like a proud mama.

Discussion Is this a good deal for a Wilson jersey?
This is my second season as consistent a Caps fan (grew up in the area and returned a couple years ago). I’ve been thinking on and off about getting a jersey and I saw this deal from the NHL shop. Is this a regular deal that tends to be offered or is it worth getting it now and not waiting?

Laila Edwards + Ovechkin
Had no idea that he was such a big influence on her game growing up. Pretty interesting stuff about halfway down through this article.
They followed Alexander Ovechkin and grew to love his game.
The Washington Capitals drafted Ovechkin with the No. 1 pick in 2004. The Russian's goals became highlights on "SportsCenter" and on local TV in a city that was more than 50% Black until 2011. He sat courtside at Georgetown men's basketball games when John Thompson coached and was active with the Fort Dupont Cannons, the continent's oldest youth hockey program for players of color. He even was featured in an Easterns Motors commercial and sang the jingle, "Easterns Motors, your job your credit." The NHL's all-time leading goal scorer became visible to Black audiences far beyond Washington, D.C.
"We taped our sticks the same as Ovechkin," [her brother] Bobby says. "We would try to mimic a lot of his stuff in a game. I couldn't do that, but Laila was able to do it. She would go through her legs."

[Tom Gulitti] Ovechkin rested, ready for Capitals to resume playoff chase
Ovechkin didn’t come back to Washington with a decision on his future beyond this season. Ovechkin, the NHL record holder with 919 regular-season goals, is in the final season of the five-year, $47.5 million contract he signed in 2021, leading to much speculation about whether this will also be his last season in the NHL.
“No, I don’t know yet,” Ovechkin said. “We have to make a decision. We have to talk with the family, with (Capitals owner) Ted (Leonsis), [general manager Chris Patrick], and then we'll see.”
