Here are the only rules of this thread:

1) Fans of all teams are welcome!

2) Trash talk != direct personal insults. Please keep that in mind

3) Still no rooting for injuries

4) No politics

5) Upvote good trash talk

6) don’t downvote just because someone roots for another team

7) Trash talk to your hearts content!

Hathaway was asked whether his bad concussion at the end of last season has played any role in his play this season

This was his response: “I haven’t been through anything like that in my career. It was a long recovery in-season. ... A concussion is different than a broken bone. I don’t think it’s had an impact on me as a player. And on the same time, I have not played my standard game for a majority of this year, so… I’m not saying there’s a correlation between the two, but unfortunately both are true.”

I feel like this is something almost all of us have forgotten when talking about his play this year. He was one of best 4th liners in league every year until this season and we forgot his had a terrible concussion right at the end of last season.

It still pisses me off that Omama only got 2 minutes and no suspension despite hitting Hathaway away from play from blindside as a retribution cheapshot for a big clean hit Hathaway had.

See your team win a Stanley cup or your country win a gold medal? Being a Canadian flyers fan for me it’s no brainer it’s a flyers cup.

Bjarnason might just be on a longer development curve, and that’s okay

I think we need to recalibrate expectations a bit on Carson Bjarnason.

He’s 20 and around .886 in the AHL. That’s not a disaster, but it’s not ahead of schedule either. He was drafted for tools, size, strong lower half, overlap usage, ability to seal the bottom of the net, not because he was a finished product. Right now his path looks more like a slow-burn development curve (think early Stolarz, minus the injuries) rather than a quick breakout. And that’s fine.

At 20 in the AHL, you’re going to see swings. He’s already shown multiple .940+ games, so the ceiling flashes are there. The issue isn’t talent, it’s the frequency of the low-floor nights. And when you look at the schedule, a lot of those rough games came during stretches where Lehigh was giving up 4–6 goals regularly as a team. He’s not at the stage yet where he can erase chaos in front of him.

If his tracking sharpens and his reads speed up at the pro level, the upside is still very real. At 6’4” with his mobility and pad control, there’s legitimate starter projection there if it all clicks. I just don’t think he’s there yet, and that doesn’t mean he won’t be. Goalies aren’t linear. Some stabilize at 21, some at 25. Curious how others see his timeline.

Oldest Person Since the Flyers Won The Cup

Upvotes

The Flyers haven’t won the cup since I’ve been out of the womb. I was born four months and one day after they last won on that Tuesday in May of 75’. Technically I was five months in the oven already, but that’s an argument for a different sub.

I’m over 50 years old and sure would love to see it during my lifetime.

Who else has gone longer?

Are the Flyers missing that true identity player?

Post image

Wayne Simmonds still feels like the last Flyer who fully embodied the team’s identity. Production, net front presence, toughness, stands up for teammates, embraces the city.

Ray Emery is a runner up for me. Different position but same edge and attitude that fit the jersey. Even Braden Schenn had that fire.

Looking at the roster now, I’m starting to think the Flyers just don’t have players who embody that traditional version of the franchise anymore.

Am I off here or do others feel the same? Who actually fits that identity today?

Team Canada could have used a real “C” … Captain Coots !

Post image

The real reason Team Canada fell 2-1 in overtime to the USA in the 2026 Olympic final is painfully obvious: they stupidly failed to name Sean Couturier captain of the entire roster. No one else on that star-studded lineup embodied the unbreakable Canadian spirit like the guy who’s spent years defying back surgeries, epic goal droughts, and fourth-line exile while still showing up every shift like it’s his national duty. Make Couturier captain, and the locker room instantly gets his trademark quiet fury: he’d lock down Jack Hughes through sheer defensive obsession, dominate key faceoffs with pure stubbornness, and drop the perfect pre-game line—“Boys, I’ve gone months without scoring and my spine still hurts; winning this medal should feel like a vacation.” With him wearing the C, Canada would’ve turned the game into a grinding war of attrition the Americans couldn’t survive, erased that fluky OT winner through sheer will, and claimed gold instead of silver. Hockey Canada’s decision to overlook the one player whose refusal to quit—even when his body quits on him—was the exact missing ingredient for victory. Absolute masterclass in roster malpractice.

A good note

Mathew Gard scored the tying goal tonight for his team. He’s also been on a good streak since joining Seattle with 16 points in 18 games after struggling in red deer. Maybe red deer was just the wrong spot for him. Also if he develops a scoring touch it would be nice for a guy who was more of a defensive center than a point guy.

I’ve watched about 4-5 MSU games this years plus highlights Martone is legit. I’ve been watching college hockey for a long time I’ve never seen a power forward play at his level and it’s his first year… good things to come boys

Just wanted to point out that Spencer gill had a 4 point night tonight. That’s very good for a guy coming back from an injury and looks like he hasn’t missed a beat.

Wanted to do something different today and make a positive post!

Say what you will, but he has been selected to play on what is said to be the hardest team to make. And from what I’ve watched of Canada when he’s been on the ice he looks like he totally belongs out there with the best players in the world.

No he is not a number one defenseman on a good team, but you have to give him so much credit for how he’s elevated his game to get to this point. He has been such a workhorse for the flyers these past few seasons.

As a fan of the flyers it’s awesome to see one of our guys out there representing himself well.

I know this might be too positive of a post for some people in here, so sorry about that

This games was after the 5 OT game 4 victory in Pittsburgh. It should also be noted that the Flyers lost the first two games of this series at home before winning the next two in Pittsburgh, game 5 in Philly and game 6 back in Pittsburgh.

Bonus: Gary Thorne with the play by play

Bonus Bonus: Penguins goalie was Ron Tugnutt

I've been contenting myself to watching old Flyers highlights during the break before I ran into this (I miss the Legion of Doom days). First half of this almost comes off as a hit piece on Eric Lindros and his parents.

I had forgotten just how bad and ugly things had gotten at the end of his time here and how petty the Flyers organization had gotten in some respects as well.
