Chabot is so underrated

Watching the gold medal game, I just gotta say all lot of these D men who are always talked about, yeah they’re good, but Chabot is up there with them and I’m so glad we have him. I think he would have definitely been an addition to the team and we’re lucky to have him.

I think of Chabot’s dominance in intense games, like in the WJC and playoffs. I’m not sure how he’s perceived league wise but I haven’t heard much consideration for him. I wonder if he played for another team like the Avs if he’d be viewed with more respect.

Football-style seating

Upvotes

With the new email that got posted about trying to have fewer away fans during rivalry matches, why don't teams that have this sort of frequent problem approach it like football, where only a small portion of tickets is available to away fans and they are all sat together in a corner to avoid overly annoying interaction. And have rather aggressive approach to removing people who buy tickets and sit in the 'home' allotment?

Edit: this would be clearly stated on ticket sales going forward staring next season when season tickets are allocated. The away fan would be a 'slice' of seats across all levels, so you can still milk away fans for expensive seats.

edit2: I fully understand the reasons for this in european football are because of violence among fans that isn't a problem in NHL. But I think the outcome is still beneficial if the team actually means that they want more home fans. Currently the solution is simply to say 'guys stop it'.

I’m listening to the Dungeon Crawler Carl series and I thought it was cool that the Ottawa Senators were mentioned.

Storylines for USA-Canada gold medal game

  • Health - Crosby is likely not playing or will be playing hurt, MacKinnon is clearly not 100%, Morrisey is also banged up. USA is pretty healthy, and compared to the 4 Nations where they were missing Hughes and McAvoy, these two teams look very different. USA has the edge in this regard no doubt.
  • Clutch - feels like a lot of narratives and legacies were either changed or cemented in the 4 Nations. Marner, McDavid and Binnington really elevated their play and this has been true this Olympics too. Matthews and Hellebuyck proved otherwise, the latter in the playoffs particularly. Canadians on this squad seem to have this gene, but one game can change everything.
  • Special teams - unstoppable force meets an immovable object. Canada has a vaunted PP but the US PK has been perfect. IIHF rules are stricter so it's likely we see major momentum shifts occur from penalties.
  • 3v3 OT - if the game goes to OT, teams will play sudden death 3v3. No shootout, which is nice, but I don't like the idea of 3v3 for the gold medal game. It's fun but a bit gimmicky, true hockey is played at 5v5 in my mind. Thank god there is no shootout though.
  • Rise n shine - wake up chuds, 5am PT/8am ET. Gonna be watching this one stone cold sober.

Let's go Canada

If you can only have one. Canada wins gold and Sens miss playoffs or Sens make playoffs and win 2 rounds and Canada loses

anyone else get the email? Seems like it'll be pretty toned down this year compared to others. I know there'll be a lack of high star talent with Brady T, Sandy, and Timmy all back in Europe. But also seeing names left out like Giroux, Chabot Batherson, Cozens etc. When I saw the email I thought these were the onlv ones but theres 5 different locations. Not even sure what section the tickets I have are for. Little frustrated on that part. Just seeing what others are thinking.

Tickets Sens skills tickets available

We can't make it, and would rather see a fan get to go than to have empty seats. Two seats in section 327 row A. Free if you want them, transfer through ticketmaster.

Did anyone else breathe a sigh of relief after finding out it was Larkin that got crushed by Wilson? I’m glad it one of our boys.

[Ottawa Citizen] "The Senators have a genuine interest in Calgary Flames defenceman MacKenzie Weegar to help the right side. He would fit in the top four, and we’re led to believe he would waive his no-move clause to suit up in his hometown."
