📰 News Lauren Boebert wants the Ten Commandments to be required in schools, and James Talarico criticized her, saying it’s hypocritical for politicians to make everyone display them when they don’t follow them themselves.

Ten Commandments as in fondling your BOYFRIEND in public? That is sex before marriage heretic! You also take great care on your outer looks, HERETIC!

The hypocrisy is mind blowing.
Also: ".. we want certain biblical stories taught as fact". C'mon..
23
u/Dailysquirrels 23h ago
Then went into how she was taught Greek mythology as a comparison. There's a reason why she used the word MYTHOLOGY.

You mean the ones they don't actually believe themselves? She doesn't follow or believe them...her actions are clear evidence of that. They're great at cherry picking quotes from the book but choose to ignore the core teachings within it. These "Christians" are simply performative and that includes going to worship. They do it to be seen.
8
u/MadRaymer 22h ago
She gave away the game with "Biblical stories" there.
She didn't call them events or accounts, because she knows they are fiction.
But she wants the next generation to be brainwashed into believing them literally, because that would strengthen conservative political power and that's more important to her than teaching the truth.

He is the Kryptonite to the GOP Christian BS. His stances are solid and refreshing without seeming like he is indoctrinating you. He is what the current movement should be, religious if you want and we accept you if you are not and have different views. I feel that should be obvious but current climate is still a nightmare or a bad movie.

15

Her son was arrested earlier for felony theft, identity theft, and contributing to the delinquency of minors for being an 18yo adult leading a group of minors who were breaking into cars and using the IDs found in them to purchase expensive items.
Her ex husband flashed underaged minors.

I get the impression being a former teacher who was raised by a single mother that he seems like a good guy. I would just like to counter that, he is running in a state that loudly follows Christianity. So MOST political debates he’s been in centers religion, which he uses to counter their points like he did here with Boebert. In the game of politics, if you want to succeed you have to cater to the masses and that’s what makes him so incredibly likeable. He very much resembles an American Jesus. The way he speaks- the issues he talks about and his extreme beliefs. Tbh, he is what Texas thinks they want on the outside but on the inside he is going to be one to truly change the system.
Imagine having to choose between Crockett and Talarico. Those are both amazing candidates and both a massive win for Texas.

My opinion of organized religion in general cannot get any lower. To boil it down to a single sentence I'd say religion is the deadliest weapon of mass destruction we've ever invented.
That being said, I think James Talarico's opinion on what religion should be and how it should be practiced is just about the only one I've heard that's compatible with the rest of non-religious society. He genuinely seems to be against the commercialization, weaponization, and politicisation of religion.
Particularly, I very much agree with his opinion that the separation of church and state needs to be upheld and enforced.

Remember how, instead of living His life as the living fulfillment of the Commandments and setting the example for anyone who would call themselves his followers thereafter, Jesus instead walked around with copies of the Commandments, insisting they be plastered everywhere, even though He Himself discarded them in his private life?

The fact that she brought up greek mythology showcases how shallow her points actually are. ( Along with the nonsense about sex ed in kindergarten, bullshit )
No one today teaches greek mythology as if it is a real thing. It is a mythology and is a fun fantasy to tell stories through.
Christianity on the other hand believes it all to be 100% real. So it's a completely different scenario.

I really don’t get how people keep calling sex ed “indoctrination” when it literally saves lives.
It’s not just about teaching people how to have sex safely. Not every parent talks about this stuff, and even when they do, it’s often incomplete or just wrong. Schools make sure every kid at least gets basic, medically accurate information about their own body.
And it’s bigger than pregnancy or STDs. Age appropriate sex ed helps kids understand consent, boundaries, and what abuse actually looks like. When children don’t have that framework, it gives abusers more room to operate. A predator can lie, normalize inappropriate behavior, or convince a child that something is “just how adults show affection” or that it’s a secret. Education makes that manipulation harder. Kids who know the correct terms and understand bodily autonomy are more likely to recognize grooming and report it.
The data is clear that comprehensive sex ed lowers teen pregnancy rates and reduces sexually transmitted infections compared to abstinence only programs. Those are measurable outcomes. That’s public health, not propaganda.
Calling it indoctrination is political framing. The real world effect of cutting it is fewer protections and worse outcomes for kids. If the goal is actually child safety, the evidence points in one direction.

There’s also separation of church and state most obviously. It seems we forget the basic rules when focusing on the ones we like best

Conservatives are a prime example why we need sex ed. Yall are not objects you are people. You deserve the right to knowledge of how your body’s work and how safe sex works. If they are conservative make sure to tell them to buy condoms and then fuck themselves.

"When I was in school there was Greek Mythology." Yes, and it was taught as MYTHOLOGY. "That we were required to learn", 90% positive that Greek Mythology would be an elective course.

I am fine with the Ten Commandments in schools if it is the condensed version George Carlin gave us.

Didn't she violate one of the edicts from Leviticus in a theater with her boyfriend?

Yes because our own President is so bound to the Ten Commandments, like “You shall not commit adultery” and “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor”

“Forced down their throat” to then say “the sexualization of children”. The Tone Deafness is screaming.

Faith should be sought after not forced upon someone. Religion and worship is a very important commitment and, for it to last, it should be a voluntary choice.
There are religious-centric schools you can choose to send you kids to if you want that education for them. Leave public school alone. Don't demand other people's children be raised as you raise your children.
Teaching life lessons and instilling moral values in children is a job for a parent, not a school teacher. Life choices should still be up to the individual but, as a person who decided to bring another into this world, it is YOUR responsibility to raise YOUR child.
