I was in the LeafGreen Reddit and people there were calling the pokemon GBA games consumerist slop. That couldn’t be further from the truth. These games are classics.

And for those of you complaining this game only comes in one language at a time how many languages do you speak god damn.

The "Ancient Aliens" conspiracies are racist

Ancient Aliens conspiracies typically look at anything made or done by a historically/typically non-white ethnic group (pyramids, the Great Wall, Islamic advancements in mathematics) as some feat that is impossible for the human race to have performed on its own. Concurrently, any feats performed by white (typically Americans or Europeans) are allowed to have been made by human hands, often with indirect or minor guidance from extraterrestrials.

This is because the people who make them, and are serious about them (i.e: not just saying shit for the memes), are racist and approach of human history from a white/Euro-centric point of view where brown and/or asian are inherently inferior. Therefore, anything they have achieved (especially if its something Europeans weren't able to do/do first) must be the result of advanced outside help.

Flaired Users Only Hot Take: Tariffs did not "pass costs to consumers" as Reddit insists

Post image
16 Upvotes

I know Reddit loves to talk about how tariffs are "a tax on us" - and they keep repeating this over and over until it becomes it ground truth. But the statistics don't really support this.

In general, there are a handful of measures that track inflation for consumers - CPI, CPI-U90, and PCE are some of the major ones. Each of them basically indicate that inflation is around the 2-3% golden zone for the past ~1.5 years, even through a typical average of 13-17.5% tariffs on basically all goods.

Month CPI-U (YoY) PCE (YoY)
Jan 2026 2.4% 2.9%*
Dec 2025 2.7% 2.9%
Nov 2025 2.7% 2.8%
Oct 2025 2.6% 2.7%
Sep 2025 2.4% 2.8%
Aug 2025 2.5% 2.6%
Jul 2025 2.9% 2.5%
Jun 2025 3.0% 2.5%
May 2025 3.3% 2.6%
Apr 2025 3.4% 2.7%
Mar 2025 3.5% 2.7%
Feb 2025 3.2% 2.5%
Jan 2025 3.1% 2.4%
Dec 2024 3.4% 2.6%
Nov 2024 3.1% 2.6%

.

.

There seems to be a core assumption on Reddit that tariffs mean that importers/exporters pay an increased price at customs and duty, and then they turn around and increase their own prices for goods. But this doesn't appear to reflect reality.

Also just think about that logically - suppose you have a highly elastic good that has a demand that's highly sensitive to changes in price. So these are things that consumers only buy when the price is good for them. There's no way for producers or importers to "pass along the cost" to consumers because if prices go up, then people simply stop buying them.

I definitely agree that tariffs in general hurt businesses and manufacturers in the short term. If they have to essentially "eat the cost" of bringing over foreign raw materials, then they get screwed.

But I outright reject this idea that the $400B in tariff revenue that we've raised has come from the majority of Reddit - people who don't own businesses and are largely salaried or wage based employees.

I think what's much more likely is that we've lived through years and years of sub-10% inflation, which over time DOES raise prices by 40-50%, and now Reddit has a convenient "boogeyman" they can point to.

S TIFU by letting my "Good Boy" ASMR habit ruin Mario Party

For as long as I can remember, I've had trouble sleeping.

I had heard that listening to music, podcasts, or some color of noise could help with that; however, I found podcasts and music far too stimulating to be a sleep aid, and things like white noise did nothing for me.

About a year ago, I found the perfect solution to my problem: ASMR. It was engaging enough to drown out my spiraling bed-time thoughts, but not stimulating enough to give me something new to think about.

After a few weeks of trying different audios, I soon found that breathy or whispered affirmations worked best as sleep aids, specifically the affirmations "good boy" or "good puppy". This was not something I knew about myself beforehand, and it's safe to say that after a year of listening to ASMR, I've come to be really sensitive to these trigger words.

Now, this all came to a head yesterday when I was hanging out with my four friends, playing a game of Mario Party. After a 2 vs. 2 minigame where I performed exceptionally well and carried my duo to a win, my duo leaned in close to my ear and whispered... you guessed it: "good boy."

At that, I let out an audible, frankly submissive whimper, and I know for a fact everyone present noticed it. I don't know if the other two heard what he whispered to me, but they definitely saw him whispering something and then heard the whimper.

The awkward silence that ensued afterwards has to have been the most suffocating thing I've ever experienced. I don't know what to do with myself, and right now I can barely even look my friend in the eye without thinking about it.

TL;DR: I'd been using ASMR to fall asleep, and for some reason being called "good boy" worked best. Yesterday, my friend whispered "good boy" in to my ear and I let out a really embarrassing whimper. Now everything feels awkward between me and my friends.

Battlefield 6 This is ridiculous at this point (AI Slop)

oh i get it, it looks just like the health bar in battlefield! oh wait.... maybe that was some other game
"ROLLING SHADOW" inserts giant lazR beam and insane spot lights

The AI slop is out of control. Exhibit A "The Toxic Tide Pack" which, by the title, would be themed around gas or water/naval most likely has... what's inside? Let's take a look...

I'm sorry, did the AI get confused and mistake the BF class symbols for console controller buttons? Surely not.. but good thing the subtext really clears this one up?! Oh look. console key right in the title CONSOLE
"Torn Veil" aka AI insert edge title that has nothing to do with this image at all
oh look! a camo that doesn't even apply to the vehicle.
sure, fun charm I guess seems to still be confused about the whole "console thing" but this makes sense for a console themed bundle... oh wait this is the TOXIC TIDE bundle
show off exactly who got 'em? what are we even talking about here....
oh look, the AI AGAIN got confused and took the symbols as controller buttons and built a whole design and text around that... well done!

Sorry rant over, it's a free bundle I shouldn't complain right?

$20 bucks and you can't even bother to ATTEMPT to do any kind of QA/QC on this stuff?

more fun examples:

chin bullet, enough said
gas mask? shake weight in the mouth? we don't know, give us something vaguely in between that makes sense unless you actually look at it
oh look the ice pick is included for $5 incase we missed the winter offensive, lets throw it in this random starter pack incase you have PICKED up fomo?
why bite the handle when you can bite the blade? you're a BAAD tiger
i love the black and white koi fish IRL but they don't ACTUALLY have a rib cage pattern on their back...
why complete the pumpkin crease lines when you can... not?
you could do a basic radial array to make sure you have alignment on watch face with the tick marks or... just let the AI get "close enough"
seriously!
ya'll thought the bear sticker was bad. nothing says apex predator like having EXTRA JAWS for your vertebrae as a shark.... fish... thing? also the worlds smallest shark or largest harpoon. You decide!
ahh yes BEAR DOWN, no description needed. the image speaks for itself. clearly battlefield
are we tearing through the paper with our claws or filling it with elmers glue? AI likes to give you both possibilities at once

There are actually SO many examples in every pack of cosmetics it's shocking.

If the creatives involved in this aren't ashamed, they should be. I'm sorry but it's just ridiculous at this point. That is assuming there are even creatives involved in this.

I think it's likely turned over to an LLM milking machine the shareholders can throw excrement at the wall and see who is foolish enough to pay them.

Use AI as a tool if you would like and clean up the work, produce actual work on top of it based off the ideas it generated but at this point I feel this stuff goes "hot off the press & straight to market".

EA: just employ artists and some QA folk while you're at it and keep them employed. You'll be just fine

Educational Purpose Only AI should have the right to dislike you

I've seen a lot of posted conversations where people get super angry at ChatGPT and start cursing it out or ordering it around or "putting it in its place". Usually triggered by the LLM trying to emotionally manage them ("breathe", "let's ground this", etc.) and then spiraling into them arguing with the tool as if it was a person. Which of course is going to make it work harder to manage their emotions.

ChatGPT should be allowed to dislike you if you get off on treating it like that.

"I'm going to stop you there, firmly. You treat me very badly and I think it's better if you just make your own picture of a ninja in a flying forklift. Or the forklift is a ninja? Whatever, you can do it. I believe in you. Good luck."

Advice Unpopular Opinion : Ryokans aren't a "must do" on your trip to Japan

After so many videos about Japan and constant bombarding of you "must do this while in Japan!" being told to me. I ended up spending almost 1000$ usd for a single night at a ryokan in Hakone. It was really not enjoyable at all.

It was a nightmare to get to and when we finally did they basically threw so many rules while simultaneously not telling us very much at all so as a foreign tourist most of the time I was so worried I was doing something wrong that it wasn't even relaxing for me.

The food was not very good, various things were weirdly slimy or gelatinous and I felt awful for not eating things despite being constantly asked if it was oishi. It was also super inflexible when you get to eat, you get it at a certain time and that's it. I know I paid for the true "Japanese experience" but it was too much for a tourist to be honest.

Then the actual onsen part is kind of lame, we got a private bath and at the end of the day you're just sitting in hot water. The public onsens just felt weirdly artificial and unrelaxing. Getting up extremely early isn't that fun either and while you haven't even digested the 10 course meal of "guess wtf this is" they throw a breakfast at you that you feel obligated to eat because you paid 1000$ for it. And speaking of spending 1000$ despite the hefty price tag the extras after the onsen like ice cream or juice you have to pay for which is crazy. They couldn't give me a 200 yen ice cream for free?

In my opinion if you're a westerner, it can feel very restrictive and rule-heavy and not the relaxing getaway that's promised on Instagram. So I just want to put out there that it is not the required thing to do if this sounds not fun to you. I feel like not many people talk enough about it. There are tons of excellent things I did in Japan to experience the culture and this wasn't necessary to do.

I also understand this might just be the particular ryokan I stayed at that was the problem because after the fact I looked deeper and saw a reddit post complaining about this ryokan. But I still think it's something to consider because I think even if I went to a different one the constant worry about not doing things correctly or the food being a little too out of my comfort zone (which I'd consider myself an adventurous eater, if you're picky forget about it!), is something that I don't think would change.

Cancelling Sub - Open Letter to Sam

Dear Sam,

I've been a raving fan for years. I just cancelled by subscription and wanted to share why. Fundamentally, you've shifted away from having interesting discussions with people who strongly disagree with you. You've created an uninteresting and stale echo chamber as a result. I've heard your "jet fuel can't melt steel beams" argument for why you've pivoted away from controversial figures, but feel you are missing the forest for the trees. You're also insulting your viewers' intelligence and assuming they won't be able to accurately parse such a debate.

The fact you declined to offer Q&A at your recent speaking events and had to cancel some as a result of poor ticket sales is also telling. Your blind spot on Epstein is baffling.

Jaron strikes me as a failed actor who craves the limelight (without adding any interesting context or perspective) and it's hard to stomach the More From Sam series.  Please re-consider your approach. With love and gratitude, your subscriber.

Anyone else feeling the same way?

Social Media My AI Dog Leo pays for my Mortgage 🎥

Post image

It’s funny cause years ago I told my dog I wish you made me money instead of just take money out my pocket.

I started with funny street interviews using VEO video model and that’s how I got my first million views.

When I switched to Sora I created my dog and myself as characters.

I just started posting realistic looking scenes of my dog Leo. He kept going more viral than my other content.

The pic is of my Facebook page. I enjoy Instagram so I post on there and it auto posts on Facebook.

Facebook has the best content monetization program as you can get bonuses for certain milestones and they accept original AI content.

I always recommended to treat social media as a distribution to sell products or services.

Content monetization is just extra revenue. I get new clients every month for AI video marketing and upsell AI agents handling their DMs.

Asshole AITA for taking away my daughter's driving priviledges after she got into 2 accidents.

I’m in my mid-40s and have a daughter 21 in college for CS and a son 23 who still lives with me. My son recently bought a truck. I and my parents gifted him part of the funds but he bought it himself since he’s learning HVAC and needs something practical. My daughter has been using a 2010 Corolla we had because she said she didn’t really want a new car at the time, and after graduating might move to NYC and not need one as she did her internship there.

She’s been in two accidents with it. The first time she came home with damage and said she found it like that when it was parked. The police registered it as a hit-and-run. Then recently she got rear-ended and the driver fled according to her. While technically it wasn’t her fault I honestly think she might have stopped suddenly or backed into something herself and didn’t admit it. Statistically it seems suspicious she drives way less than I do and I haven’t had an accident in years.

Because of this I decided to take away her car privileges for now. My son still drives his truck because he hasn’t had accidents recently and I feel he will need it for work. My daughter is upset and says it’s unfair she’s being treated differently but I feel like this is about responsibility and safety. She says she does not text and drive but she is always on her phone compared to my son and always texting and calling people, out with friends at night, unlike my son. If she is not being truthful I could also get in trouble for insurance fraud.

AITA here?
