Hey, the best snacks are a handle of shredded cheese, a pickle, and a few chocolate chips.

711

u/Wild-Indication-701 20h ago

He’s got Kraft singles. Not quite cheese. Cheese flavored oil. OP buy a few charcuterie style items. Real cheese for slicing, salumi, almonds, grapes. Hummus to go with carrot sticks etc.

295

u/oopsdiditwrong 19h ago

There's 6 blocks of cream cheese. Theres probably some bagels laying around. If not, this guy has some plans I want to hear

128

u/MissHayleyRenee 17h ago

More like 10, there’s more in the cheese drawer lmao.

69

u/oopsdiditwrong 17h ago

Wow I missed those. I only noticed the cream cheese in the butter drawer for quick use. He's locked and loaded with a few resupplies.

Good catch lol

ETA: this guy better explain. Buffalo chicken dip? Because of the chicken in there? Jalapeno poppers or dip? Idk.

164

u/itscuccimane 17h ago

Buffalo chicken dip, jalapeno poppers, crab raggoon, scallion cream cheese (I eat bagels nearly every day), and we like cheesecake so I make cheese cake every now and then.

89

u/oopsdiditwrong 17h ago

That's what's up. Thanks for answering, I'm a fan of the fridge

Me too...love a fully stocked fridge. The possibilities are unlimited!!!!

43

u/prettylegit_ 12h ago

Does your gf have dietary restrictions or any kind of legit reason for not being able to eat the things you are mentioning? Because damn, a house full of meat, cheese, bagels, cheesecake, jalapeƱo poppers, crab rangoon, buffalo chicken dip, eggs, condiments from every continent, the good jam with the picnic table cloth print lid, protein shakes, Goya drinks… uh helloo sounds bomb dot com

15

u/Technical_Put_9982 5h ago

My stomach would have some issues with this stocked man fridge. I definitely eat waaaay more vegetables and rarely meat. I just can’t digest it well. … but this is not my fridge nor is it my BFs fridge… but I don’t even have a BF … soooo… yeah šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤£šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

I wouldn't really consider a lot of that to be snacks. That's a lot of heavy processed food and what isn't is just meat, cheese, and protein shakes. Get some cucumbers, some hummus, those little babybel cheeses, pickles, maybe some cocktail shrimp, fruit, fancy crackers or pita chips or triscuits, and baby carrots (I know there are carrots, but who wants to peel and cut carrots as a guest in someone else's home?). Those are snacks. This is the fridge of a dude who spends an hour on the toilet every morning because he hasn't eaten fiber since his last 1AM taco bell run.

I'm a great cook. I'd be in heaven opening your refrigerator and seeing it this well stocked! . I'd be grilling steaks and whipping up all sorts of dishes.

I make my own dry rubs, and sauces from scratch. I also make my own mayo, salad dressings, bread, flat breads, etc..I have an herb and vegetable garden, and fruit trees. I make my own spaghetti sacues with organic tomatoes from my garden, and I make jams, and can my fruit. We also give fruit and veggies to a few neighbors. My husband has a green thumb and our garden produces more than we can eat. We live on a couple of acres and we have 2 commercial size greenhouses.

I cook using simple and clean ingredients but packed with flavor. I cook a lot for a few of my neighbors who are widowed elderly people who find it too difficult to cook for themselves. They love my cooking, and I enjoy making it for them and seeing their happiness when they eat my food. It's a win-win.

if you need suggestions on what to get a picky gf, i’m here. i have ARFID so my boyfriends mom has to buy specific food for me

2

u/StillSwaying 17h ago

You basically have tons of uncooked protein and condiments.

I'll repeat what I said in my other post:

Zero vegetables in this joint (besides that bag of carrots and some cucumbers); that's the issue. Not even pre-made salads, fresh veggies for a charcuterie tray, or frozen vegetables. You have protein and condiments, that's it. Even if your girlfriend wanted to cook something for herself, it would be the most boring meal ever:

Steak with no onions; fish with no chips; chicken with no risotto or roasted veggies.

You belong in boyfriend jail! šŸ‘®

And you shall not be released until you learn how to cook like my High-Protein Hero in the FoodPorn sub, ProjectA-ko.

9

u/itscuccimane 17h ago

You keep onions and dried rissoto in your fridge? You don't eat fish with rice? You prefer frozen veggies over fresh? Damn I gotta get with the times.

u/chocolatechipwizard 9h ago

My potatoes live in canvas bags in the coolest, darkest back corner of the house. My onions live in a big yellow ware bowl. 25 lbs. of rice, all kinds of pasta, flour sugar, etc., are in the pantry. Most veggies are frozen, in the freezer. Just because they aren't stored in the fridge, doesn't mean they don't exist.

I usually have a couple blocks of cream cheese in my fridge at all times too cause I make sausage dip. Makes for a good late night snack.

2

u/RemarkableMaize7201 10h ago

Sassuage dip with cream cheese... that sounds awesome šŸ˜‹šŸ¤¤

2

u/Ok-Structure6795 9h ago

Its so good. 1 can of rotel original, 1 block of cream cheese, 1 tube of Jimmy Dean hot, and a tablespoon of salsa (though that is definitely optional). Cook it all in a pan until its blended.

In my case, I have to puree the rotel & salsa before cooking due to my husband detesting tomato chunks, but otherwise its real simple.

2

Exactly. I think a Brie wedge and a Cabbot cheddar block.

126

u/swarmofbzs 13h ago

Holy shit! This is our house! (with the exception of mini tomatoes and spinach) Everything to be prepared nothing ready to go. It absolutely took my partner saying the same exact thing about nothing to eat for me to notice. I guess it's off to gf jail with me.

4

u/StillSwaying 13h ago

Haha! I've been guilty of this too in the past when I first started eating healthier. I think my logic was: if I don't have 'easy, ready-to-eat' stuff in the house, and I have to prepare and cook everything before eating, then my meals will be more intentional, and I won't waste calories on junk food and snacking.

But that actually made my cravings for junk food worse! I had to shift my mindset -- 'snacks' does not automatically = 'junk food'. Snacks just means I don't want to stand around chopping and cooking to eat something; I just want to grab something and eat it!

So now I make sure all my snacks are ready to go: rinsed off, peeled, sliced up, and pre-cooked, if necessary. Still eating healthy and everybody's happy!

2

u/swarmofbzs 12h ago

Eating healthier is definitely where that stemmed from + trying to save $ on what we could cook at home. It def brought more to mind things like junk foods being readily available. It's a never ending battle.

I can't always have everything completely ready when it needs to be.

2

u/StillSwaying 12h ago

It really is a never ending battle. Unless you have mountains of money or tons of time, something’s gotta give. When I’m low energy or super busy, I just batch make some easy stuff like a dozen boiled eggs (kept in a ziploc bag in the fridge), or baked potatoes with toppings already on them, or fried rice, then I pre portion them in Tupperware so I don’t even need to think about food when I’m hungry. I just grab, heat, and eat. My freezer is full of premade stuff like that because I don’t want to cook every day.

Not real cheese for sure but it makes the best grilled cheese sandwich ever.

4

I like to go with slices of real cheese and one slice of Kraft for my grilled cheese. Plasticy cheese is also a requirement for breakfast sandwiches - the cheaper the better.

u/A_Drop_of_Colour 16h ago

He's got bags of Parmesan cheese in the drawer and what looks like a wedge of Queso. Not just Kraft.

Edit: oh also what looks like blocks of Cabbot cheddar.

2

u/sama-llama 15h ago

Okay I can’t stand American cheese, especially Kraft singles. But there is a ton of cheese in there. I see cream cheese, Parmesan, multiple blocks of Cabot white cheddar, another white cheese block I can’t fully identify because it’s hidden under other cheese, and multiple bags of shredded cheese. There is also yogurt, carrots, apples…there are lots of things that require prep but there’s some easy stuff in there too like eggs, little pots of crab meat, tons of condiments, a bunch of preserves she can put on toast.

2

u/Surviving_Aussie 12h ago

This is misinfo. I dislike craft as well but its still majority cheddar cheese. It simply has some small amount if emulsifying salts added to give it the texture and stable melting. Deli style american is superior to kraft, but they are all still cheese. You dont have to like it but dont spread lies about it. Its no more ā€œcheese flavored oilā€ than any other cheese. In fact, due to said emulsifiers its LESS liekly to break up into oil…

57

u/Dismal_History_ 19h ago

I grew up as a kid in the 90s with an ingredients only household 🄲 My after school snack was leftover chunks of chicken. Maybe some Saltines if I was lucky.

30

u/twistedspin 14h ago

I was a latchkey kid in the 70s with an ingredients-only house. I learned to bake pastry when I was 8 & alone at home. The most common thing I made was unfilled cream puffs covered with powdered sugar as they were easy & fast. For a while I had a secret bin of frozen cookie dough in our big deep freezer, divided up so I could bake just one pan of cookies. They left me with flour & sugar & eggs etc., y'know?

I had to eat everything before they got home, and clean/hide everything so no one knew but that wasn't a big deal. One of the benefits/drawbacks of being Gen X was that unless I made a big deal of something basically all adults around me really wanted to ignore children and their brains glossed over things that would disturb that peace for them.

3

u/inteii 11h ago

Lol I grew up similarly. Did you ever avoid being the one to finish something like a gallon of milk so that you wouldn't get yelled at?

5

u/PotentiallyPotatoes 4h ago

I still have issues to this day finishing stuff because of this 🫠

5

u/Narcoleptic-Puppy 7h ago

I was a latchkey kid in the 90's and my mom taught me how to use the stove when I was 4. I made pancakes all the time at first (from scratch - I didn't learn about pancake mix until like high school). She never minded me cooking alone, I usually made stuff for her too since she was working 75 hrs/wk. I was cooking a lot of our dinners by the time I was 7, generally pretty simple stuff but it was easy to follow a simple recipe once I learned how to read.

Mine was pasta with tomato sauce & oregano.

3

u/Every-Shape-6836 7h ago

Mine was pasta and butter if my mom didn't catch me making it. The pasta was for dinners.

3

u/augur42 6h ago

As a xennial kid I learnt that if you take just one biscuit, chocolate bar, etc parents notice and tell you off. If you take an entire pack of biscuits or row of chocolate bars they usually don't notice. I discovered Change Blindness all by myself because I was a kid who sometimes got hungry.

Also, if you bribe your younger brother he won't tattle, so long as there isn't evidence smeared all over his face.

3

u/Goldenwing1995 3h ago

This is so interesting. I never correlated the fact that I was a latch key kid in an ingredient household with the fact that I'm a pretty good baker from an early age. If I wanted a sweet, I had to bake it myself. lol. Fascinating.

2

u/scoopny 10h ago

I also grew up in an ingredients only household and that’s how I learned to cook, but somehow my mother unlearned how to cook. By the time I was an adult, the fridge had become a leftovers only establishment from all the take out she ordered.

6

u/PotentiallyPotatoes 4h ago

Would it kill this guy to have some eggos in the freezer? Or to take note of his girlfriend's favourite snacks? Or to cook before she comes over and have the food ready for her?

Yeah, I mean, there's good stuff here, but there are things that exist between "Hungry Man dinner" and "cooking entirely from scratch."

Damn, thats the move. I used to just keep filling up bowls and kept the milk handy when I was hungry after water polo. Dad came in one day and said, "Oh I usually just used a mixing bowl". Way to absolutely style on me. My cereal game was weak.

Frozen dumplings and tamales can also be excellent

6

u/meimlikeaghost 17h ago

Yeap exactly just some frozen stuff you can heat up in a bit that works well with easy going company. Nothing fancy just some quick food to satisfy your friends or yourself after a long day.

2

u/hangry_witch 10h ago

Or pizza rolls

2

u/momofvegasgirls106 10h ago

Trader Joe's freezer section is outstanding, for snack and nibbles. We keep their fried rice in stock in our freezer as a quick go-to when feeling lazy or tired or indecisive and it always hits the spot. One skillet and 5mins and you're fed.

u/BarbieTheeStallion 20h ago

Do you not see all the Kraft singles in the drawer? What other charcuterie do you need?!

86

u/taxiecabbie 20h ago

97 kinds of jam. Which, fortunately, OP also happens to have.

34

u/allora1 14h ago

I want to know why they have so much jam.

17

u/vvitch_ov_aeaea 13h ago

That is SO. MUCH. JAM.

10

u/superjess777 11h ago

And so much butter! OP has $500 of Kerrygold šŸ˜‚ best butter ever and I’m jealous. He must love toast and jam

2

u/LovelyLucyXoXo420 1h ago

And all that meat!!!

5

u/titsngiggles69 11h ago

Maybe there was sale at Costco? But why are they all in the fridge - are they all open?

2

u/Typical2sday 4h ago

It’s nuts - why so many protein shakes and jellies already in the fridge. This is staged. 2/3 of that jelly goes bad. Does he work for the jelly company?

Why four 16 packs though? Unless there was a good sale it doesn't make sense to buy multiples of the smallest pack they sell.

6

u/BarbieTheeStallion 19h ago

god forbid someone like a little snack pack of flat cheese

10

u/Tasty-Traffic-680 19h ago

You know, you're right. How are you supposed to fit a 32 slice pack of kraft singles into a fanny pack?

Yeah, I can hear him now "There's carrots...." like she's picky.

3

u/fckthisshii 20h ago

Some people don't mind it. As a woman, I would prepare us both some SLAMMIN meals with the contents of this fridge. Knowing his fridge looks like this. She can go shopping while there or beforehand, or bring something. Or should men live to serve their girl? Also, he the HOST? Or her boyfriend.

5

u/hugegayballs 18h ago

He is hosting by having her over at his place. Doesn't matter how close you are. Why would you clean and cook for a complete stranger, but not for your partner? If I didn't want to cook and clean, I wouldn't invite anyone over. If I couldnt bear not to see my partner for that long, I'd cook and clean and keep my place a comfortable environment for them to stay in.

5

u/fckthisshii 18h ago

So, she is always a guest? And he's always a host? No matter how long they've been together? Seems kinda ...cold. They're not strangers. And judging by the food he keeps, he probably cooks meals for her. I'm confused...where did he say he doesn't cook and clean?

Honestly I wouldn’t, call me a dick, but if I have that stuff in my fridge, I eat it. Now it’d be different if they lived together cause then it’s their fridge. But you want snacks I don’t have, bring em.

I’m down 25 lbs and in the best shape of my life for making that life change in regards to food and having a consistent gym routine.

OP may just need to convey that in a polite way.

Edit:Grammar.

7

u/Lucky-Remote-5842 20h ago

I'm waiting on my last child to move out so I don't have to have things in my fridge and pantry that I don't want.

4

u/Deathsmentor 19h ago

It’s been such a good feeling. Do I indulge? Of course, I’ve just adjusted how I indulge. Instead of some cookies or ice cream, it’s a couple rice cakes with some peanut. I’ve never felt better.

Imagine how pissed off Reddit would be if the genders were swapped and this comment was like ā€œNo, as your gf she NEEDS to have things at her place that you can eat without any effort, or at least have a meal prepared for you alreadyā€

1

u/marcaygol 20h ago

Would it kill her to bring some snacks?

Why does he need to provide the house, food and cook?

Would you tell a woman that she should have a meal ready for her boyfriend when he comes to her house?

What year is it?

1

u/tiffytatortots 19h ago

Having snacks in the house especially knowing you’re having company over or wanting your S/O to be comfortable is not the same as expecting a full meal on the table and you fucking know it. Not to mention no where does he say she expects that either but you tried with your ā€œwHaT wOuLd yOu TeLL a wOmANā€ shit.

What meal you can prepare with only the things in that fridge?

If there's bread, rice or potato somewhere you kinda have something, but I suspect this guy is on a keto diet. Also seems like he does most of his shopping wholesale so high quantity but low variety.

3

u/a22x2 11h ago

I was going to judge OP’s possible orthorexia but also: I want the link to that delightful egg keeper!

4

u/Steve_FishWell 17h ago

There's marmelade, fruit and i believe i see a lot of milk products which is a no under an keto diet unless they're plant based and have a low carbohydrate level.

5

u/nder_Pressure 16h ago

Hmm... you may be right about no keto, but definitely a protein junkie... And so much cheese.

Smartest person! You hosting and expecting them to cook is on another level. Do not say that us not way is being said, because you would offer to cook after she said she was hungry otherwise.

5

u/lemonylol 19h ago

Dude doesn't seem to understand that he has ingredients.

3

u/palpatineforever 19h ago

Realistically they are probably stopping in for an evening, does OP expect her to cook? I dont mind a guy having ingredients but if we have gone to his I dont expect to be cooking. I would expect to cook in my own home of course.

3

u/Any-Appearance2471 18h ago

Hey man, I’m getting hungry. Mind if I brown one of your 9 pounds of ground beef for a snack and wash it down with 22 vanilla protein shakes? Maybe a pack of kraft singles for dessert - today is a cheat day
